Romulan Scout Ship deckplans now online

Some of you might be glad to hear that I have put my new Romulan scout ship deckplans online.

I went with LUG’s assumption that only the major Romulan vessels use quantum singularities as an energy source and that smaller crafts use more ordinary matter/antimatter and fusion (or is it fission) technology.

I slightly deviated from the trek norm of about 4.5m per deck. Instead I used 3.5m as a guideline, since this allowed me to put in three decks and, much more important, use the wings without having to raise or lower any parts of the concerned deck.

LUGs crew size of 5 seemed to low to me for a vessel of this size (89m), so I increased it to 12 .(Besides, I had a lot of room left and nothing else to fill it with.)

Comments are welcome.

Even if one keeps to the five personnel crew, extra quarters never hurt. Who knows when one will have "guests." :D

Well firstly - YOWSERS - that's sure a treat, a very nice little vessel, I am bound to have some use for! Very well done.. I'm confused why there are two copies in the same document though :D

The main and slightly scary thing with this design is... all of the crew acomodation lies either side of the Warp core, and above (or below) the primary EPS conduits - KABOOM :D

What might have made for a nicer alternate arrangement is if you swaped the computer core with the current warp core - and that way it doubly works because you can either tie in your EPS conduits into the Impulse drive conduit, or use the same 'waste' space to put your other EPS conduits, with a couple of cross links (and you can therefore see them on the plan!), however that's just me :)

I am not exactly sure what one is but the modern day Romulan ships have something called a 'Nullifier core' which helps to ballance out the warp harmonics to better mask them, perhaps that could find a home?

I agree about the warp core, though to be honest, a relabel wouldn't be hard - it's just a round thing on the plan :D For something as large as a Warbird it makes sense, but for something this large it's awfully risky.. I can see allot more of these existing than Warbirds.. that and the Romulans are well aware of the problems the Quantum singularity can produce.. I imagine it can distort their sensor readings, which would be bad for a science vessel :D

I assume tankage is above and below in the 'wings' - either a QS or WC (hehe) would need some sort of takerage, even if it's just hydrogen to feed into the event horizon to produce some virtual particle pairs :D

The first two pages are mainly intended for printing, the last two as a reference to find out what all those symbols and rooms are supposed to be.

Yes, interesting point. I wanted to keep the two systems relatively separate, though, to make the vessel less vulnerable to a complete failure of the drive systems. I said relatively, because there certainly is a common EPS system like on Starfleet ships.

Since there is plenty of room left below the outer hull, that is only accessible via horizontal Jeffries tubes (that I didn't include for narrator flexibility) it could be located outside the visible areas. Honestly, I didn't think of it.

Yeah I guess so.. Perhaps you should still do a version with the outline of the ship so that people know the shape (perhaps a 50 % scale illustration to one side)

I get your point about not having all your eggs in one basket but there is a limit to how much you can really do this in such a tiny ship! :D having the warp core at the back also makes a certain sense just because it would be like the D'Deridex, which most likelly has it's core in the rear section (why else would it be so big) as a sort of homage (does my warp core look big in this.. sorry couldn't resist! :D)

the nulifier core components might indeed be located anywhere though logic suggests as a single object it would exist in the central axis, which would be in a deck somewhere.. This midel might not have / need one anyway :)
