Romulan Sho-Kra-Class Freighter

This was designed as part of a solo PBEM scenario I am running for one of my former players who moved. His character is unaware of the truth about this class or the operator/owner of it that he is currently working with to stem a piracy threat.

I have a basic idea of what it looks like but have not yet had to hammer it out as he was brought aboard unconscious. In my mind currently, I picture it something similar to the Tavares-class freighter that FASA detailed, if I am recalling the right ship. I don't have the book handy so I cannot check, but essentially it is one long tube of a ship. I see this class as being somewhat longer but narrower of beam and height to the Tavares.

Thoughts on a description or comments on the idea behind the class and its use are welcome. If there is interest in more detail about the setup behind the operation, I can add that as well.

A couple other notes:

a) The skill ratings represent the average agent's skill in using these systems, replace them with the stats of any detailed agent using the vessel.

b) The difficulty rating under the security systems is to represent the average difficulty to break into the ship or its systems given the fact that the agents would go to great lengths to protect their mission and its data even though the design has no real security system beyond the anti-intruder defensive systems.

c) Each individual agent would likely customize their ship to some degree over the years of its use. I envision that each of the other five ships would be somewhat different to one degree or another but this version represents the Prototype which has spent the most amount of time in Federation space.

Description and Notes
Fleet Data: After the encounter with the USS Enterprise in 2364, the Tal Shiar became somewhat concerned about gaining current intelligence regarding the United Federation of Planets now that the Empire’s attention was returning to the Federation.

A small group of operatives underwent genetic re-sequencing and intensive training to be able to pass themselves off as various member races of the UFP. Furthermore, using various third-party agents and construction firms with Orion space, the Sunrise-Class Freighter was commissioned to be built for a dummy corporation. The Romulans named the class Sho’kra in their own files. Translated, it means Enlightenment.

The operatives were slipped into the Federation one at a time with their covers carefully planted and detailed while the Sunrise Merchant Consortium continued to do business. In late 2365 though, disaster befell the Consortium and they were forced to close down. The six ships of the Sunrise-Class were sold off at a fraction of their cost to pay off the Consortium’s huge loans to the Orion Government. The Government in turn sold off the ships to a number of independent traders looking to purchase their own vessels.

In truth, this was planned from the beginning so that the Tal Shiar operatives, their covers established would have the means to travel the Federation and gather information under the guise of merchants. Each freighter is what it seems but had a number of rather advanced systems installed for the time and to help the Tal Shiar agents in their mission.

Starfleet Intelligence has not yet learned that these ships are intelligence-gathering vessels, in effect scouts or that the merchants operating them are indeed Tal Shiar agents.
