This ship was designed for use in a solo series that I am running for a friend of mine to bridge the gap of where her character stepped off in my history to the current timeline.
The design is somewhat influenced by the Cosmos Royale from "A Doomsday Like Any Other" and certain elements from the Titanic as shall be seen later.

Description and Notes
Fleet Data: The Galaxy King is the crowning glory of Daniel King, President of King Luxury Lines Incorporated. Mr. King’s family at one time had operated a prominent cruise line on Earth Centuries ago and he had always dreamed of one day providing a similar service in space. He started quite small with a refurbished freighter and took paying passengers where ever they needed to go, mostly frontier trips. He spent nearly forty years providing this simple service until he had enough latinum saved to commission the design of a true luxury star liner similar to the ocean liners of Earth's early 20th century.
With the design in hand, he approached the Federation Business Council with his business plan and through the use of several favors managed to get them to co-sign a loan for the building of the Galaxy King-Class Luxury Liner.
The Liner only requires 54 crew to operate it but there are sixty-six specialized service staff that operate in three shifts of twenty-two to attend to the passengers’ pleasures.
There were some concerns with the design but it did meet the required standards set by the UFP and Starfleet regulation codes. Furthermore, since Mr. King’s business plan stated that his liners would only be operating on established and often heavily traveled routes, mostly among the core worlds he managed to get these concerns dismissed.
At the age of 67, Daniel King finally saw his dream become reality with the commissioning of the Galaxy King in April of 2370. It currently is on its maiden voyage but Daniel himself will see only a modest profit for the next five years as the UFP garnishes the cost of the loan to build this vessel so he was understandably nervous when the Maquis hi-jacked the Galaxy King only a few weeks into her voyage but due to the quick thinking of Starfleet’s liaison Lieutenant Kismet Pilomire, the attempt ultimately failed and the conspirators were turned over to Centauran security upon arrival.
With the Galaxy King due to return late in June from her maiden voyage, Mr. King is praying that the rest of the trip is uneventful. He is already planning to obtain financing for a sister-ship the Galaxy Queen if the next four years prove that his concept is popular.
The star liner like many civilian ships does not have a separate engineering section or hull as it is sometimes called, though it does have a distinctive operations center for the bridge. The ventral portion of the hull looks quite similar to an Excelsior-class engineering hull but where it normally sweeps upwards near the aft it instead continues straight leaving a somewhat rectangular aft section for the impulse drive. The curve of the hull remains the same but the navigational deflector array is smaller.
That is where the similarity ends though as several decks go beyond what would normally be considered the dorsal side of an Excelsior's secondary hull. A rectangular almost pyramid-like series of decks climb dorsally from there, allowing for some spectacular views from the passenger cabins. The upper-most deck is actually a huge observatory with a small lounge off of it to allow passengers to observe various stellar phenomena.
Also within these upper decks is the grand ball room, decorated with various pieces of art and gilded with various types of precious metals. The entire chamber is three decks high, capping off with a spectacular dome. Various balconies are accessible through the two decks above the dance floor and a live band is playing each evening. Small tables and chairs are set around the dance floor for participants to take their leisure at between sets. A small lounge attached to the ball room caters to the guests.
Another oddity within these decks happens to be the Grand Dining Hall. Mr. King desired an old-fashioned restaurant complete with real cooking and wait staff to prepare fresh food for his passengers. Various sized tables are scattered in a tiered manner throughout the hall, set amongst various plants and other decorations. Wait staff take orders and the passengers can listen to a selection of music, chatting while the chef and his staff prepare their orders. While many find this quaint at best, it seems to be a huge draw on the maiden voyage of the Galaxy King itself. Though Mr. King has been heard to joke about looking into having a holographic cook created based upon some of the greatest chefs in the history of the UFP after hearing about the EMH developed by Starfleet.
The bridge is built just forward of this pyramid-like set of decks, its structure has been commented to look similar to that of the top half of a D-7 Command Boom.
The nacelle pylons are attached centrally to the hull but jut ventrally, angling toward the aft so that the nacelles themselves are somewhat below the hull. While the small shuttlebay doors are set along the center of the ventral side allowing the shuttles to appear to drop out of the bay, leaving a rather unobstructed view as they leave the liner.
