Live or Dead?

So, I have the rule book and a few of the source materials, but is it worth it? That is, Ive not yet ran a game and do have some people who want to, but are decipher still supporting this game or have they taken their money and ran? If you think its still worth it, what a good place to start for a noob?

Decipher is not currently supporting the game with new material, though their website still has free adventures and such for download.

You should check out the Hall of Fire webzine for starters. That's the best place to get new material for the LOTR RPG. The last I heard, the editors have a ton of material to come, so I expect it to be around for a long time. And as long as it's around, Coda LOTR will be supported. :)

So, yes, I think it's worth it. Even if Decipher formally gives up on the game, I'll still be playing it. There are many 'dead' RPGs out there that still have a strong following of players and GMs, and I don't see the LOTR RPG as being any different.

Well cheers for that, Ive d/l them and am gonna sit and have a read through. Is there a good starting scenario anywhere or would you say just use the one out of the book? (was it in the book? maybe it came with the narrator screen I cant remember)

There was an introductory adventure with the Narrator's screen that was fairly good. There's also several free downloadable adventures at Decipher's site, all of which are geared toward low-powered characters.
