LOTR introductory boxed sets

I play Decipher's Star Trek game but have never played the LOTR game. I was wondering about getting one or both of the introductory boxed sets: Moria & Two Towers.

Does anyone have these?

What do you think of them?

Would you recommend them to someone who is interested in just sampling the game?

I know each boxed set contains fast-play rules, maps, dice, pre-gen characters & an adventure. I was wondering what people's opinions were of the adventures.

I was just curious if they are worth picking up for a taste of LOTR & maybe just playing the adventures included.

They're not too bad. They're not a great intro to the Coda system, since they're rather simplified, but they're a good way to blow a couple hours and kill stuff.

I must echo Ineti on this one. Truthfully, if you've played Trek, you've got a pretty good idea of how it feels anyway. Sure the professions (Orders) are different, but the mechanics are the same. The one thing you don't have, and won't get a feel for with the boxed sets is the magic system. I say just grab a core book somewhere.

Thanks for the replies. I was just looking at them to do maybe one-shot adventures & just get a feel for Decipher's LOTR w/o buying all the books. I already GM several other RPG campaigns so I'm not interested in doing another at this time.

I have one of the introductory box set but I had not open it yet. I have though printed out the free The Road to Henneth Annûn (Quick-start Sample Adventure) by Douglas Sun that Decipher has available on the website. I have not played it but it seem good enough for an introduction to the game as far as the rules go. Not sure about the adventure though as I have not run it.
