Multi Vector Assault mode.

I have 3 questions for this system.

1) How do you calculate the Sizes for the subships, because there is no real formula for this is there?

2) I want to use the MAM mode system, but instead creating subships I want to use the MAM to control the Shuttles of the ship. What do you think the space cost should be? (For the moment spend 3 space on thebase ships, and 3 space on each shuttle, is this enough or should I spend more points?)

3) Can a person disrupt the computer communication between the different subships. If so how difficult should it be (may be based on the rating of the baseships operation system?)

Any help would be nice.

Well, looking at the Prometheus, and thinking about the way multiple engines works for larger sized ships, and applying a little logic, I'd say:

1- All sub ships must be smaller than the big ship.
2- The ship can split into two ships one size smaller, 3-4 ships two sizes smaller, 5-8 ships three sizes smaller, and so forth. You still have to spend the 3 points for sub-ship beyond the main ship, so if you wanted to turn a Size 10 ship into 16 Size 3 corvettes, youd need to spend 45 Spaces on the MAM.
3- For mixed sized ships, each doubling of the smallest ship is one size greater, just like with impulse engines. So two Size 2 shuttles are size three for this purpose and so on.

Are they normal shuttles that sit is a shuttlebay and are being controlled by a MAM program, or are they specialized craft built specifically for this purpose and installed on this class of ship?

If the former, I'd say the 3 SPACES per ship is fine. While the shuttles aren't part of the main ship, making the main ship a little tougher, since it doesn't loose anything, the weapons limits on small sized ships combined with spending 3 SPACES on the main ship would do it.

If the craft are specialized craft built for this ship and somehow take away from thw main ship (like if the main ship looses a point of Size and 5 structure when the shuttles are launched, then treat it as a normal MAM.

I'd think so, since everything else can be jammed. I'd suspect Starfleet would probably try to make this difficult, since it is the Achilles heal of the design.

I'd go with the "Jamming Communications" rules from page 107 of the NG. Both sides would add their Ops rating. I'd also give a +3 bonus to the MAM and assume that those 3 SPACES include some sort of security system to give them the edge. I'd also say that if the "jammer" targets one of the shuttles the shuttle would have to use it's own Ops Rating rather than the mother ship's for the roll.

To hack, and try to take over one, I'd treat that like Computer Access and use the Base TN from the table on page 103 of the NG. Both sides would add in the Ops Reliabilty Codee and the MAM would get the extra +3 as above. So trying to shut down weapons would be TN 20+3 (MAM). Trying to get the ship to self destruct or attack the mother ship would be TN 25+3 (MAM)

That's my suggestions.

So yeah.

I think it heps to represent better intrusion or counter intrusion software and hardware. And it helps to keep this ability from becooming cheap.

I was watching the TAS Tribble episode the other day, and they did something like this with drone cargo ships. Thats one reason why I tossed in a +3 to the MAM. You figure all the 3 SPACE of control equipment has to include to extra security.
