ICON contradictions in Players Guide

Hello!

After a long absence of Star Trek in my gaming life I now enjoy gamemastering a monthly campaign again. While preparing for the next session I have noticed that the Players Guide mentions several times "to role adittional dice" when using specializations instead of adding a fixed number to the skill all the while stating that you already roll a number of dice equal to your skill level. This is found for example in the sidebar on page 71 and is found several times repeated all over the book if I'm not mistaken.
I guess there has been some rules redesigning along the process of developing Star Trek but the question is - what is correct now?

Does anyone know if there is Errata for the PG? Or what was meant by the said passage and others?

It is denifitely the adding of points not dice, if you regard the test difficulties, I tihnk. It's the first time I hear of additional dice for that. Maybe they mixed that up with edges, i.e. the "specializations" of attributes?
