DISCRIPTION AND NOTES

Fleet Data: The F series type 1011 was like its predecessors introduced as the demands placed on the whole Class became more and more dedicated to strict military needs. The Type 1011 original arising out of the need for a System Defense Ship was designed in the early 2360’s at private initiative for a ship capable of defending outlying colonies and other more established systems within the Federation. The project quickly received the support of several Planetary Defense Forces including those of Earth and Alpha Centaurie.

The Type 1011 was universally well received when introduced in 2364 with several colony and member defense forces such as those of Marcos XII re-equipping there entire fleet with the Type 1011 as it came in several models. These including, the Series B Scout (2366), Series C Surveyor (2366), Series D Minelayer/Sweeper (2369) and Series E Hospital frigate (2371). With the Threat of the both the Dominion and the Borg the designers of the Type 1011 went to the boards and designed the Series F Heavy Frigate with higher firepower and more protection. The Type F was even considered by Starfleet who accepted 12 vessels designating them as the War Horse class.

The Type 1011 Series F saw great service during the Dominion war in escort and system defense roles, which it had been designed for any ways. The Type 1011 continues to be produced as of 2376 for Starfleet, System Defense Forces, and several Federation friendly governments.

Okay, so this is a REALLY minor thing, but being the Master of Minutiae, I thought you should be aware of it.

You have the SUs Used listed as "964.5", with the half-SU coming from the personnel transporters -- the 5 pads show up as taking "2.5" SUs.

Remeber to round all fractions to the nearest unless otherwise specified; this should thus be 3 SUs for the pads, and Sus Used 965.

Told'ya it was a minutia kind of thing...

So whats with the planetfall and atmospheric abilities?

Is it meant to be an all terrain defence boat?

This ship was designed as a catch all ship that a small minor power could equip ther entire fleet with. As protection of commerce is a certainity with in force and it only makes sense that the ship be capable of warp to move around, though in general it would only be moving around in the nearby space between systems or escorting convoys in hostile areas. At the same time these ships have to be able to "do their Duty" if Starfleet comes calling.

The Planet fall and atmospheric capabilities where designed for the potential frieghter version which has never been developed as of yet At the same time it gives the front line combat vessels the ability to keep pursuit.

i understand the whole reason for a warp capable system defense ship look at t like this if it only had impulse the enemy could probably walk right around them so to speak like they were standing still. also if say you were stationed in orbit close to the sun and the breen attacked earth with cloaked ships it would take you 8 minutes to get back to earth which in combat can mean the difference between life and death
