SF Attack Fighters!

Did we ever get good info on this vessel.

I know their basic stats for a Peregrine in the DS9 book, and stats coming in the DW SB.

Just jumped on an Akira, with a few SFAF and one PC took quite an interest and so I made him squadron cmdr.

So Steve, and quick modifications to the Peregrine stats to make a standard SFAF?

Also along the Akira lines, how many fighters. I saw in the Akira vs Deredex that they had put in 12 fighters. Off the top of my head I told the PC 15 fighters of 3 wings.

Any ideas?

No. The SFAF and the Peregrine are two completely different ships.

The DWS (which should hopefully be available soon) will have templates for the SFAF. http://www.trekrpg.net/Board/ubb/smile.gif

Well can you give me an idea on what I can tweak? I'll probably use the Peregrine as a standin for the mean time.

Or I could knock up some quick and dirty SD rules.

Phasers? Type VI?
Torps? How many tubes and spreads of 1.

Everything else I can probably wing it.

We're using 12 SAF's in the Akira vs D'Deridex sim because it just makes it easier to control the action. As it turns out the Feddies are sending out just about everything on the ship!

Steve's right, a Danube with 6 single-shot torptubes ought to do it, but it is different!

It would depend on the Akira's mission. I suspect that a squadron (12-25 fighters) would be a normal status complement, while a pair of squadrons (up to 50) would be available for wartime missions. Believe me, 12 SAF's pack quite a punch!

Info on the vessels should be released when the sim is over.

Okay I'll stick with 3 wings of 5!

I've given Brian's Valkyrie stats to the squadron cmdr as his top of the line 'Scull Squadron type ship' (robotech: Cmdr Folker).

Of course I need to down grade by 3-5 years worth of tech or I could just say its an advanced protype, they are after all on the protype Akira (going by the 2369 release date and not the 50000's registries).

The stock fighters though Im still deciding between a Danube or Peregrine with modifications. Im not sure I like the idea of a Fighter that can go to warp.

Although the Danube looks good for a quick conversion, the Cpt has his own private Danube (he created a shuttle that SF developed into the Danube). So I want some variance in stats.

Maybe some tweaking and older/newer tech will do for now.

Yeah, you pretty much want the microtorps for small stuff like strafing and harassing. The SAF carries 6 single-shot launchers because Steve has decided to identify the ports in either wing of the model to be the launchers. Having them be single-shot complicates things a bit when figuring multifire action.

Im going to go a mix of stats from the peregrine and danube.

With type 6 phaser cannon in the nose

2 type 4 in the wings (1 ea.)

3 torps each wing

No warp

And then make SD rules/stats around that.

What should be the armament and loadout for fighter weapons. Are the torp ranges the same as the ones on a starship, and why use single shot launcher? Why not use one launcher with a small spread?
A fighter that I had designed was armed with phaser VIIs, microtorps, and quantum torps. Is this overkill? Its shield were about 400, with 700 points of armor. I wanted the ST version of an A-10. Something that could take damage and dish it out. Personally I feel that microtorps don't do enough damage? What do the rest of you think?
