The handbooks show how much power it takes to "drive" ships, shuttles and runabouts, but they don't list cruising or maximum speeds. How can I figure this values, especially for Danube's and various shuttles?

I'm not sure I understand the question.
The Standard, Sustainable, and Maximum speeds for each ship's warp propulsion system are listed in its template.
Similarly, the Sustainable and Maximum speeds for impulse engines are indicated, as is the fact that Standard impulse speed is always .25c.
Does that answer your question, or am I missing what you're asking?

Related question, I haven't noticed rules on this subject any place (I might not be looking hard enough), but pushing your warp maximum speed. We've seen this done in, I think, all the series (I don't know about DS9). The most ready to mind instance I can think of right now is- when Enterprise-D was trying to out run the Borg for the first time, the engines had past what is considered max rating, and could only go on for a few more minutes (roughly remembered). Has any one else thought about this, or better yet found this subject in the SD rules.

The rules on page 34 of Spacedock cover running at Maximum speed beyond the time limit for which your engine/PIS are designed to function.
The rules also provide some methods for increasing speed beyond Maximum for short periods of time, such as injecting radiogenic particles into the warp manifold (page 100).

Yeah, I remember reading the rules you mention, but what I was thinking was based on the max 12 hour speed. If you push your engines just a little further, say 0.2 over your max but the time limit is exponentially reduced (i.e. your at max warp +0.2, but it's only going to last a mabie minute at best). I'm uncertain if you know what I'm talking about but I don't recall any extra items introduced in to the warp system, and LaForge was manually adjusting (or something like that) the warp core "thing-a-ma'bob o' the week".

I'll give the matter some thought and think about coming up with more rules on the subject, if it seems appropriate.

Ok, in the last 26 hours I thought up an idea on this subject, "for every 0.01 (or in smaller increments if the GM would prefer) warp factor you increase the ship's max warp by halves (or quartered ? ) the duration you can remain at that speed, this would require a base challenging (10) Propulsion Engineering: Warp Drive test plus one per every factor of 0.01 over that limit. Power cost for this would be 1 point exponentially (1, 3, 6, 10, 15, 21, 28, on and on)
Other options might include mandatory Courage point expenditures, breakdowns (even if the tests were successful) of the warp drive, long term damages to components (again, even if the tests were successful), and whatever else the GM feels would be appropriate.
BTW I'm basing the power costs off LUG rules, not Space Dock (I'm still trying to get them all figured out).
