Novice narrator needs help!
As I've convinced my group to play DecTrek when it comes out ("It's like d20! Really!" Heh heh.), I need some help with making my own episodes.
Info: There's seven people in the group, and the charcters they'll be playing are: Klingon security (exchange officer), Human command officer, Vulcan security, Trill medical, Human engineer, Human helm/navigation, and Trill science officer. They'll start off at a fairly low rank (their idea). The ship is the Intrepid-class USS Takla Makan NCC-72583. The series is set in 2380. I'll probably use converted and slightly altered LUGtrek adventures for the most part.
Here are the most-developed ideas I have so far:
"Legions of the Mind"
A betazoid youth who is one of those who can't shut out other people and a very powerful transmitter (so much that psychic feedback he produces drives the people around him insane) escapes from his care facility (or escapes on his way to a facility somewhere else in the federation, (he was doing something that made people think the Romulans contacted him or somethin) or was captured) and the Crew is called in to find him (he could be used as a weapon or something). They track him to a trade colony or something, where he stole a ship and headed off to Calder II. They follow him, where they find he was called there by a group of Debrune who have been trapped in subspace, and are beginning to fade out of existence.
Locations - Betazed, an Orion trade planet, Calder II Act One - kid escapes Act Two - go to Orion Colony, follow trail Act Three - Arrive at Calder II
Characters - Belris Solial, Alien case worker; Charumekh, leader of the Etheric Debrune; Gregathop Sot, seller of ships. Harin Cerzan, Betazoid youth
"The Collecting Thing" (Partially inspired by "Here Be Monsters" in the Ep. Seed thread)
Locations- deep space, the outer shell, the heart/stomach of the beast, the brain collection,
The Crew’s ship is attacked and ‘eaten’ by a gigantic spaceborne creature (a Narleth, thought mythical by the Vulcans and Orions). They must survive marauding crews of other ships, including a mysterious arachnids that steals minds.
Now, I've figured out that the creature eats fuel that can be converted to antimatter for warp reactions, but will also eat raw antimatter when it can find it.
"untitled" (inspired by the recent SW epII trailer, Eaters of the Dead, and a SF novel I read years ago.)
The Crew finds a bunch of Vikings on a planet who were apparently put there by the Preservers. While investigating (infiltrating the viking society) a bunch of people go missing. The locals say its because of the Wendol, and the crew goes out to slay the evil people. They find a species (more or less peaceful, and not the Preservers) hiding in lairs underground, who have been using the vikings as cover, hiding from something that seeks to wipe them all out.
Here's a few other ideas that have been kicking around in my head (they may not make sense to anyone else):
•A species slightly out-of-phase with reality is colonising a federation world by turning it into a class-? planet
A low-tech (but warp capable) planet has requested the Fed’s aid in rooting out Breen pirates that suppported the last government.
Mysterious tall, gaunt aliens in silver robes. Kidnapped scientists and stuff for them to find a way home or end the universe or to make a really big pot of tea or something. Dr. Romik played them for fools, as usual, and escaped with their brains, to be implanted into his head so he’s really smart.
someone who brainwiped criminals is himself brainwiped; hidden memories resurface for some reason (uncovered romulan double-double agent?)
A space station built into the carapace of a dead Narleth. It’s mate/child/other shows up and is mad.
A mad scientist’s ship is stuck around a black hole.
An advanced being tests the crew to see if they can care for its child.
(One villian I've always wanted to make is an insane double-crossing Romulan scientist who is halfway to becoming a noncorporeal/energy being, and I'd like to find ways to indroduce him early as a less powerful character, maybe using him in one of the 'A Fragile Peace' adventures)
That's it. Any help would be very greatly appreciated! :)
