Ship Designer
Began this project ages ago, but lost interest. I decided to restart it a few days ago and post my progress here.

Oh, and don't expect much. I have nearly completed the user interface, but still have the main maths part, save/load and printing features to add.

Any comments, questions, flames, requests?

WOW!
I like what you're doing!!!!:D :D :D
I would love to have a copy of that program when you complete it!
It'll certainly make my job a lot easier......'cos I'm dense really!:p
Let us know when it's ready
Regards
Lars

Looks good. I am looking forward to the completed version...
Well done.
just out of interest, is this based on the basic spacedock PDF or have you covered the additions from the Cardassian and Klingon SRM's?
Alternatively, is there an option to add alternate systems to allow the use of stuff like the space station systems presented in the Cardassian Sourcebook?
-
Looks promising, vaebn. I cannot wait to see a finished version.
BTW how large will the program be, roughly?
Also, any possibility of an online version?
-
Dan, just the basic Spacedock is being done now, I do have plans to add the additions when the basic program is complete
Hoss, unzipped, the program is roughly 600k, zipped 400. The code isn't very pretty or compact, I'll clean it up soon so the size should drop slightly. I might also remove a few picture or reduce their colour depth depending on the size of the final version.
I haven't really considered an online version. If I can find hosting and have the time, I'm pretty sure I could make one
Thanks for the feedback
Vaebn

I would appreciate it if you intend to use the program, to answer the 'Monitor Resolution' poll in the 'General Chat' forum, so I can see what the average resolution is.
Thanks,
Vaebn

Excellent!
The screenshot makes Spacedock look less intimidating! Voted in your poll. Let us know when you've got it available for download! :)

Excellent...
All I can say is thsi will make it so much easier to make starships... Many thanks in advance...
-
Wow!
All I can say is that this will be incredible when it's done.

Can we assume, from the small size of the file, that the program could be run directly form a floppy? Or does it need to be installed directly into the system to run properly?
I'm certainly hoping the former, since my only computer access right now is via public computers at my local library, which don't allow program installations (for obvious reasons).
Looks cool, too. Gonna use this once it's available, that's for sure.
-
I am intending to make the program as small as possible, mainly because it will be available for downloading. So far, it is around 620k - and that's just from the user interface. The interface, however, should be the part that takes up the most space of the program, as the maths, is just lots :( of algorithms. I'm quite sure the program will be under 1.44mb and hoping it will be under 1mb. Not sure how long it would take to load though from a floppy though. I suppose I could always make a smaller version, without the graphics
-
Hey, don't get rid of the graphics on my account!
I'm not particularly worried about load times... just portability.

Top Stuff!
Looks pretty good. I look forward to seeing the finished product.
