Player Handout
Dear Everyone
Wonder if you can help me?
Has anyone prepared a handout for their players which summarises the situation in the Federation and their neighbours following the Dominion War ?
I know Owen Oulton did a wonderful player handout for the Original Series and I was hoping someone might have done something similar for the late Next Gen Era which they wouldn't mind me using.
I'd normally do it myself but time's against me.
Thanks all
Long Tom

I take it you're just looking for a 2-4 page summary as an introduction of your campaign? Which direction are you taking things, as this will definitely affect the specific information as well as the way the info will be presented. You also sound as if you need it within a certaiun timeframe. Let me know and I'll see if I can come up with something.

My co-Gm and I did this for a campaign we were going to run. It was about a year after DS9. We figured the Klingons were the Fed's allies again (sort of like during TNG), the Rommies hid behind their NZ again, being Rommish, and the Cardies were in a world of hurt. The Dominion was a non-factor on the other side of the wormhole. It was a period of rebuilding, and a new-found focus on exploration.
Ideas, anyhow. :)

The campaign is set aboard an Intrepid Class ship, USS Pioneer, patrolling the area of the Neutral Zone described in "A Fragile Peace" i.e. the Arteline Sector , and to the "North" of it, primarily to make use of the material already available and to allow the Romulans the role of primary threat species , at least for now.
The time frame of the game is set around six to eight months following the end of the Dominion War .

These comments by Ineti pretty much sum up the way I feel the political situation stands at the moment, although the ship's primary mission at the moment is to reassert the Federation's presence in the area, in adition to a Federation vessel's usual standing orders. In addition to the usual crew types, we have a Strategic Operations Officer, and a fair number of crewmen who saw action in the war.
So far, we've run two adventures in the campaign, both by inimitable Dave Biggins , "Enter Chimera" and "Conquest's Tools" to get the ball rolling. With our next adventure which kicks off next week, however, we have a couple of new players in the game who are not real familiar with Trek and hence the need for a basic primer.
What i'd intended to include in the handout was tech stuff much like Owen provided i.e. here's what a phaser looks like, here's what your uniform looks like, and this is the situation you find yourself in. The ship's command base is 39-Sierra as in " A Fragile Peace" but it has a wide patrol area to cover and I intended to include a couple of lines on the Klingons, Cardassians and Romulans .
Thanks for your comments, guys.

If this handout ever gets created, could someone please send me a copy at hirogen_alpha@hotmail.com ?
I am really interested in this handout, thanks in advance!

Time's a little tight at the moment, but I'm working on it. Rather than specifically making the handout set on an individual ship, I'm doing a general overview of the tech and timeline of the post-DS9 era, and will be posting it on my Star Trek: Relic site in the Challenger area, which also concerns an Intrepid class starship. I also have some Intrepid class-specific info which will be getting the same treatment, like planetfall and takeoff procedures and such. I'll be announcing it here when finished.

I'm all smiles here....:-)

Hi Owen
How are you getting on with the post - Dominion War handout ?

Sorry, Long Tom, but it's been put on the back burner until after Victoria Day (May 21) in order to get new product ready for Wonderfest. As we're a two-man shop, this will be taking all my free time through next Saturday, and then I'll need at least a day to rest. This came up rather suddenly, but business must come before recreation. :(

No problem at all...hope it all goes well.
