When the hammer drops

I have a game set on the first Federation outpost in the Gamma Quadrant. Its a Federation station at the core, but 2/3 of the station has an "open door" policy. Ferengi, Klingon, Romulan, Dominion, anyone is welcome at the stations Promenade, per the treaty that allowed the station to be built in the first place. Well long story short is that I got tired of running the game and need a kick in the ass to explore strange new worlds etc. So here's my idea and feedback would be appreciated. The borg show up and assimilate some Jem'haddar........uh oh....



Federation/Dominion alliance to eliminate the threat????

The idea sounds interesting, but how would the jem hader be any different from your standard drone? I realize they would make excellent tactical drones, but woudl they be anything special?

I am not sure if Dominion arrogance and xenophobia would allow them to ally with the solids. But you never know. ;)

More dangerous : the Borg encountered the Dominion and, after some skirmishes, managed to develop some special nanites, thanks to wich they're effectively able to assimilate the Founders. No matter how they shapeshift, the nanites are part of the Founder's protoplasm, and they're part of the collective.
Now thanks to the Founders' knowledge, the Borg can now create pre-assimilated Jem'Hadar, with the power of the Jem'Hadar and the devotion of a drone. Not to mention the fact that, thanks to their changeling drones, the Borg can sneak and assimilate almost anywhere they want.
Oh, and a Cube is en route to the Founder's homeworld too - to assimilate the Great Link once and for all - and so, the Dominion.

I guess the Dominion wouldn't hesitate to much to form an alliance with the Fed then...

Now that is scary. But how do you assimalate a bowl of soup?:)

Personnally, I drink it ;). That's how I assimilate soup anyway :D

As for the Borg, well... they could pour some assimilating milk into it and voilà ! Ready-to-assimilate soup ;)

But, back to the question. How would a Founder be assimalated?

Well my take was that the Borg were able to create nanites that managed to get entangled with the cells of the Founder's protoplasm. Hence my analogy with the milk in the soup - you get a mix of Founder and nanites - and the nanites, of course, act like every Borg transmitter implant and link the Founder to the collective. A bit far-fetched, I agree, but, hey, we want to have something scary, don't we ? ;)

Well ran the game on Saturday. Players loved it, except for the guy playing the Admiral in charge of Gamma Fleet. He wanted to send one starship, which happened to be carrying newly elected President of The UFP Spock, after the Borg. But he was demoted as planned and everything went accordingly.

Oh! I'm a little late to contribute anything useful :(

However, I considered Borged Jem-hadar a little while back, and came to the conclusion they wouldn't bother. Their short lifespan and drug addiction would more than negate their combat advantages (which are mostly physical anyway, and most Borg drones seem as effective to me).

They might go for the Vorta though. Founders would be difficult, but an assimilated Vorta could order the Jem'hadar to do stuff the Borg want, rather than the Founders. The soldiers would do it if they believed the orders came from their gods...

I would tend to disagree based on the fact that the assimilation process would negate the need for white, and lengthen the life span....I would imagine.

IMO I'm not sure it would do either - both are built in genetic flaws, and if you have to work at that low a level, would it really be worth the assimilation process? Especially given that the Borg find it reallly easy to transport drones across the galaxy. I tend to assume efficiency is a major Borg directive.

One thing we know the Borg assimilation process does do is take away a drone's initiative and specialised skills. That for one would make the Jem'hadar not worth assimilating (they'd lose a lot of their combat skills).

I think there is a precedent for this - didn't 7 of 9 at one point say that the Borg did not assimilate the Kazon for similar reasons?
