So its when Britain gave up direct rule and let Canada govern themselves?

What year was this?

Australia being in the same position only got self rule in 1901.

I seem to remember that Canada gained its independence some time in the 1960s. '64 maybe?

Ah! Very interesting reading. :) I wonder how different the US would have been had the revolution not been successful.

So, if I read correctly, Canada was a self-governed "dominion" of the United Kingdom from 1867-1931, when they gained their sovereignty in the "British Commonwealth of Nations"?

That sounds aboot right ;)

We ratified our constitution in 1982(?) IIRC.
