I've seen this poll before but there's a new show out so I'm curious if it's changed...
We've always played post-dominion war though I'm finishing up a replacement series set in 2343 for my CODA spy campaign.
As a member of that game (you know the one), we play in the post DS9 era.
My PBEM, the USS Legacy, is currently in post-Enterprise, around 2161 or so.
I accidently voted for Enteprise rather than post-Enteprise though... could a moderator change my vote perchance?
Currently, TNG/early DS9 (season 2). However, I intend to go as far as the end of the Dominion War... if we can play that long :)
The Post-Dominion War is virgin territory which allows GMs to play around with the Trekverse as he sees fit and no players to argue that its not canon.
My people wanted to be in a "known" era, so I have set them a couple years prior to the Dominion War.
What they don't realize yet is that, due to their situation, they will be all but cut off from Starfleet for a couple years because of that war... ;)
Oh, sometimes it is sweet to be the GM
Well we actually have three campaigns. One is set post Dominion War/Endgame. The other two are set just prior to The Motion Picture, and will soon move into the grey area between TMP and TWOK. It's also worth noting, that events in one campaign tend to ripple through to the next. I have sort of an arc running from the TOS/TMP Starfleet campaign that ties loosely into the TMP Triangle/civlian campaign that will eventually tie into the 24th century campaign. Not to mention, the Trill Ops officer aboard Intrepid is also the Federation Envoy in the TMP era campaign (different host of course).
Post-Dominion war. There's a lot of good background for characters, and there are any number of directions a campaign could go.
I like the "now that that war is done, we can get back to exploring" angle, myself.
And yeah, it's nice to know that another series won't be contradicting anything I make up anytime soon. :)
My games (essentially, two games being run by separate players using recycled plots) actually started out just post ST: TUC (2299 or thereabouts), but through a few incidents of temporal mayhem, a dimensional breach, and at least one act of Infernal nature, the series is now set immediately (just a few months or so) prior to the DS9 Episode "In the Pale Moonlight."
I have 2 Series
Movie Era (ST:V-ST:VI)
And
Klingon War (DS9 Season 4-5)
Karg
Post Dominion War/alternate universe. Hence I voted 'other'.
Primarily, post-DS9. Why? 'cause I can pretty much do what I want & don't have to worry about breaking canon...not that I don't anyway. (I pretty much ignore TOS, STV, and Voyager.)
We do have an occasional solo for my wife that takes place between ST:TMP & STII. (Love those red uniforms...)
Late movie-era.
I've got a lot of room for manoeuvre there. Plenty of usable background info in the FASA books, but very little actual canon.
Plus there's a nice little cold war a-stewing, lots of possible hooks to pick up from TOS, and hints of trouble in the white towers of Starfleet Command.
What more could a GM ask? :D
Plus, there's all those incredibly sexy starships :p
Post Voyager!!!!!! 2380- Beyond!:)
