[Coda] Movie-era Ship and Crew
What follows is the Coda version of a FASA crew I GM'd in the early 90s, when stationed on a ship in the Navy. The list includes "retired" characters (from players who transfered off the ship), updated for new jobs. Feel free to use any of these characters for your games as guest stars or other generic Starfleet characters.
USS Hornet, NCC-1714, Constitution-class Heavy Cruiser

USS Hornet was the second ship of the Constitution-class' "second" wave of construction. First launched in 2254, the Hornet figured prominently in the Federation expansion of the 50s and 60s, encountering over 65 new species in its first 15 years of service.
The ship received its refit in 2275, and continued its exploratory service along the Frontier, briefly returning to Federation space (once at the request of the Vulcan ambassador) for a few months before returning to station.
As of 2285, the venerable heavy cruiser has taken a patrol near the Klingon Neutral Zone, operating out of Starbase 19 near the Frontier. Her mission continues to include exploration, but has expanded to provide protection for Federation colonies and assets in the sector.
Notable past commanders of USS Hornet include Admiral James Dougan (2266-2271), currently the Deputy Chief of Starfleet Science for Research, and Commodore K'col (2271-2275), currently Superintendent of Starfleet Academy's Command School.

Born in the American state of Indiana on Earth in 2253, William Anzack was the son of an applied mathematics professor at Notre Dame University. Growing up in a world of numbers and mathematical theory led young William to a love of space science, and, eventually, into Starfleet.
Although he excelled at the Academy, earning high honors and a promotion to Lieutenant, junior grade, William's early career was unspectacular, working as a navigator on a small scout from 2276-2278. The then-Lt. Anzack transfered to the Kiev-class frigate USS Baden, where he was promoted in 2280 for excellent service.
In early 2285, while on a landing party on Omicron Alpha XII, the Baden's captain and first officer were taken captive by hostile natives. Lt. Cmdr. Anzack took charge of the landing party, which included two science officers and a wounded enlisted medic, and "creatively" convinced the natives he was a "medicine man of immense power," and that the captain and first officer were his "slaves." Not only did the natives release the two officers, but they begged William for his forgiveness and asked him not to tell the gods of their mistake. The normally reserved navigator told them he would "forget" their misguided deeds, and the party returned to the ship "in a flash of magic."
For his deeds, William was meritoriously promoted to the rank of captain and given command of the Constitution-class cruiser USS Hornet.
Editor's Notes: All characters presented are converted from FASA, based on a process I adapted from FASA-to-Icon and Icon-to-Coda conversions. I'm including all general bonuses (attribute modifiers, edges, and abilities that apply to the skill in general, and not just one or two specialties of that skill) to skills, and only providing the final test modifier for the basic skill (remember to add +2 for the specialty).

Born in Utah in 2243 and raised in Texas, Christopher O'Brien spent most of his youth fixing his father's farm equipment. He had an uncle in Starfleet, but hadn't really thought about the service until three of his high school friends applied to the Academy. They convinced him to apply, as well, and Christopher was, to his surprise, accepted on the first try.
He spent his cadet cruise working for the famed Montgomery Scott in 2265, and ended up staying aboard the Enterprise for his first tour. Promoted to Lieutenant, j.g., in 2267, he transferred to USS Hornet later that year as a shift engineer. He was promoted to the rank of lieutenant and made Chief Engineer in 2268 by Captain Dougan, and served as the lead refit engineer when the Hornet entered the yards in 2274.
O'Brien was promoted to Lietuenant Commander in 2275, and assigned as First Officer, in addition to his continuing duties as Chief Engineer. He was promoted to the rank of Commander in 2281, and shows no signs of leaving the ship he has called home for 18 years.

The child of two Starfleet officers, Suvek was raised at a communications station in northern Queensland, Australia. His mother, a science officer, took a sabbatical from Starfleet to raise her son in the proper Vulcan way, but the young Suvek had "too much of his father in him." Still, she taught him well, despite the fact he showed his emotions more than she would have preferred, sometimes in front of her traditionalist parents.
To encourage his mother to resume her own career, Suvek entered Starfleet Academy a year early. He excelled in the sciences, and graduated near the top of his class. He spent his cadet cruise on his mother's reasearch ship, USS T'Plana-Hath, before receiving his first assignment aboard the Anton-class light cruiser USS Coustiare in 2270.
He was highly proficient in his space and physical sciences, distinguishing himself on a number of missions, earning a promotion to lieutenant, j.g., in 2271. He was promoted to lieutenant and assigned as Chief Science Officer in 2274.
Suvek transferred to USS Hornet in 2279, earning a promotion to lieutenant commander in 2281.

Lt. Cmdr. Lance Sijan was born on Mars in 2251, the son of a single Utopia Planitia engineer. While he had a loving home, he had a lot of free time while his mother oversaw massive starship construction projects, and often found himself in trouble with local law enforcement or UP security.
In his early teens, Lance was befriended by a Starfleet intelligence officer stationed at UP. He became the boy's mentor and father figure, and helped Lance focus his skills toward things other than mischief. He also sponsored Lance's application to Starfleet Academy.
Rejected twice, Lance was finally accepted to the academy in 2271. Specializing in security, Lance requested Starfleet Intelligence Command for his cadet cruise. He performed so well that he received a promotion to Lt. j.g. heading into his first command: USS Hornet.
Lance performed admirably on the Hornet, receiving a promotion to Lietuenant in 2278 an outstanding efficiency review at the end of his fist tour in 2280. He remained on Hornet for a second tour, achieving the rank of Lt. Commander in 2284.
Lance still performs the occasional mission for Starfleet Intelligence.

Lance's father is a Starfleet officer who recently retired at the rank of Commodore. He and Lance's mother dated for nearly two years, but decided not to remain together when he was transfered. She found out she was pregnant after he left Mars, but didn't tell him, instead choosing to raise the child on her own.
As such, Lance knows who his father is, but has no real relationship with him.

Born in 2251, Ian Iverson grew up in metropolitan Glasgow, Scotland, the eldest of six children. Expected to take over the family brewing business, Ian showed an aptitude to learn languages. He began taking linguistics courses at Edinburgh at age 13, where his professor suggested he apply to Starfleet Academy.
Ian was accepted early in 2268, and excelled in academics. However, he couldn't quite grasp the applications of the theories he was learning, and finished in the middle of his class. Following a turbulent a cadet cruise on USS Genoa, Ian transfered to the Nelson-class scout USS Trafalgar.
There, the comms chief took the struggling officer under his wing, and helped Ian through his failings. By the time he left the Trafalgar (for the Hornet) in 2280, now-Lieutenant Iverson was a highly proficient Systems Operator.

Born on Andoria in 2247, this toubled, sometimes volatile officer seems to have finally found a home on the Hornet. Graduating 10th in the Academy class of 2269, Trah'lasith was nearly drummed out of Starfleet for punching out her training officer on her cadet cruise. She refuses to talk about the matter.
Her first posting, the Nelson-class scout USS Churchill, proved to be just as problematic. Captain Benjamin Dawson once said she was "always just one step short of insubordination." Despite this, she did receive a promotion to Lt. j.g. in 2271, although she nearly lost it in after a confrontation with her department head over a first contact situation.
The incident with her department head forced her transfer to USS Hornet in 2275. Trah'lasith's attitude immediately gave Lt. Cmdr. O'Brien fits as XO, as she always seemed to end up in front of him to settle some dispute or reprimand her for one incident or another. He eventually took her under his wing and began to curb her volatile tendencies.
Finally controlling her temper, to a degree, Trah'lasith earned her promotion to Lieutenant in 2281 and was assigned as Chief Helm Officer. While still outspoken and quick to take offense, she has become a valuable asset of the crew.

Darden Whitefang has always been just a little bit different. Shortly after his birth in 2254, Darden started exhibiting enhanced intuition when it came to learning. He advanced very quickly, learning to talk almost as soon as he had started walking, and learning to read within a year after that.
By age 5, his parents started to suspect that he was more than just "gifted," and took him to the Federation liaison office and the Vulcan consul, asking for assistance. One of the Vulcan legates tested his abilities and found that Darden possessed a low level of telepathic ability, and offered to teach the young Axanari how to develop his talents and use them responsibly.
Darden learned quickly, although he had no desire to be a powerful telepath. His Vulcan master convinced him to apply for Starfleet Academy, and with the consul's backing, Darden was accepted in 2268.
His first assignment was as a navigator for the Federation Diplomatic Service, on the courier Persephane, attached to the liaison office on Axanar. He earned a promotion to lieutenant, j.g., in 2275, and transferred to the prototype light cruiser USS Miranda in 2276.
He showed his almost intuitive astrogation ability, earning the praise of his CO and XO, and a promotion to lieutenant in 2279. He transferred to USS Hornet in 2283, and is currently up for promotion to lieutenant commander.
Darden is almost apologetic about his psionic ability, and rarely uses it.
