Nova Class in Movie Era
I had a thoght. What do you think starfleet would do if they found a Nova class ship during the Movie Era. No crew aboard, only minor damage but easily repairable.
Would they hide it somewhere never to see the light of day till the appropriate time had elasped?
Would they study it for technology?
Would they put it into sevice?
Thoughts?

I say study it and try and figure out how it works.
This is the movie era after all, and they seem to have no troubles playing with time ;)

Missing derelict
Star Fleet in the Movie Era getting their hands on a starship with technology advanced seventy or a hundred years would be less critical than getting their grubby hands on that starship's database.
Fast and loose with time though THEY might be, Agents Dulmer and Lucsly and the Department of Temporal Affairs would be all over the situation before Kirk and company would have a chance to board the derelict, let alone study it.
The knowledge of the future contained aboard that ship would pose a threat as expressed in movies such as Final Countdown, or God help us, Back to the Future.
I know that none of my characters, or players for that matter, would hesitate to prevent Wolf 359 or give the Federation a hundred year start on defeating the Dominion.

'Course, you could run a real fun predestination paradox with this one. Unlike O'Brien or Harry Kim, I love tinkering around with Trek-style temporal physics. Tossing in a couple of post-TNG DTI agents could make for an interesting scanario, especially if you introduce them as shadowy figures in the background trying to destroy the ship's computer core before it can be returned to Starfleet HQ, not identifying themselves. You could even pull a page from Enterprise here - that Lieutenant JG who transferred onto the ship just before it left Starbase is a DTI agent...

I know they made the DTI cannon in voyager but i'm not all that fond of the whole concept. They went thru all of TNG without the time police (I believe). I understand the problem with them having the computer core. I may just have the core be damaged enough that only the info with regards to future timeline unavailable, which could make for an interesting story too. :)

IIRC, the DTI was already Canon in DS9, with Trouble with Tribbles...
