Designed in response to the Empire's renewed contact with the Federation, the Meret-class incursion cruiser was designed for reconaissance and search-and-destroy missions, and have assumed many offensive roles within the RSN. It uses an unorthodox "open-wing" design to save mass.
The Meret and it's specialized variant, the D'viret-class strategic incursion cruiser, are the preferred vessels of the Tal Shiar.

A throwback to early and mid-23rd Century Bird of Prey designs, the D'virin-class incursion frigate primarily functions as a forward observation and long-range reconnaissance vessel. Its agility, power and durability makes it a fixture on the frontier.
Rather cramped and uncomfortable vessels to serve in, the D'virins are nonetheless the source of great pride for their crews. Akin to the Terran submariner fraternities of the 20th and 21st Centuries, D'virin crews are a tight-knit band of brothers, as their hardships and experiences create an unspoken bond between them.

The Deresus-class heavy scout is technically a destroyer, specialized to fill a scout role. Descended from 23rd Century spaceframe designs, the Deresus is considered one of the foremost exploratory vessels in the Star Navy.
The vessel received an extensive refit in 2350, as part of the infamous Praetorean Edict of 2348 (the Romulan Expansion Directive). The design is so successful that Star Command is considering a second refit to extend the service life of the class.

The T'rasus-class light starbird represents the first of the RSN's new class of exploration vessels. The overwhelming success of the design was largely responsible for the increasing respect accorded the Exploration Command in the late 2300s. T'rasus starbirds were also heavily involved in the Dominion War, serving with distinction.

Designed to counter the recent Federation introduction of a number of "fast" vessel classes, the D'valek-class swift warbird primarily takes on rapid response and perimeter defense missions. These vessels form the nucleus of the Core Defense fleets.
The D'valek is one of the fastest warships in the fleet.
