Just got starships today (excellent book, well worth its price), and I thought I'd try my hand at construction.
Please take a look and give comments, as I intend to use this in my series :)

I couldn't get the file to unzip. Shucky darn and other family friendly expletives. I like the whole frigate thing. I'll try to get the program unfrazzled and try again.:(
Here it is without the nice MS Word formatting:

1- The New-Orleans class has a mission pod attached to the dorsal hull that can be ejected and reattached. It cannot be operated on their own, however.
Nice. Do the pods work like the modules on the Nebula class? Swap module, add sensors, or torpedoes.
Yup. It allows the New Orleans to be used in a variety of missions, with a quick pod swap at a starbase.
A design flaw is that the Engineering section is right above the pod docking port, so in order to eject the core, the pod needs to be jettisioned first.
Nice design. Neat idea for the pods, I've seen all sorts of speculation about what they're for. It adds versatillity to the design, and since there are three pods, you could mix and match. One nit to pick, is the threshold on the shields a little low?
Possibly, but it's the max for that array. Perhaps you could scratch ACB Jacketing and add in a better shield system, or attach a defensive pod with extra shield power. (Maybe adds 3 to threshold or some reasonable amount).
