Who is your favorite Klingon?

Hello all,

I'm sure this thread has been done in the past too...and probably several times. But I've been gone away from Trek-rpg.net for a while now and missed out on a lot.

So, anyhoo, to the question:

Who is/are your favorite Klingon(s)? (confused yet?) :D

For me, well, it's pretty obvious. General Chang. Shrewd, quiet, patient, and has a love for Shakespeare. And the eyepatch....that was Klingon if ever I saw one.

If I were to do a top five list:

1. General Chang-for the reasons listed above.

2. Commander Kruge- (Living proof that commedians make the BEST dramatic actors.) This guy was Klingon all the way, back in the movie era.

3. DaHar Master Kor- I loved both versions of Kor. In TOS, he was shrewd and vicious (like Chang after him). In DS9, he was a lovable lush. If Kang, Kor, and Koloth were the Three Musketeers.... Kor would be Porthos, hands down. (Drunken, lust for life, the ladies man.) Not to mention, the late, great John Colicos' portrayal of Kor was sheer genius in both TOS and DS9. The Kor of DS9 made me laugh so hard sometimes, it was almost easy to forget this was someone who would have killed James T. if he'd had the chance.

4. Worf- The guy who gave Klingons a good name in Star Trek. Through Worf we saw the former "bad guys of the week" as an honor bound society. Not to mention, it was always great to see Worf in "fish out of water" scenarios, and to see the big guy get mildly flustered or embarrassed. Also, Worf gave us the first taste of the mok'bara...Klingon Karate LOL! (I use the term Karate generically, I know it's based off of Tai Chi.) :D

5. General Martok- Here was a Klingon who had been through a living hell in the Dominion prison camps. The loss of his eye served as a reminder to him that war is not all honor and glory, although he wears his physical loss proudly. It's kinda intimidating.


So, let's hear from ya...who is/are your fave Klingon(s) and why?

K'Ehleyr. Sexy, smart, sarcastic and healthy disregard for Klingon traditions.

I like Martok alot. But, my favourites (sorry can't list just one) are the Three Great Commanders; Kor, Koloth and Kang. I liked them in TOS, and I love that DS9 ep where they went after The Albino.

I love the TNG television and DS9 versions of Worf. I think he was terribly mishandled in the movies.

Anyway,

1) Commander Kruge - A great performance for Lloyd. . . who really didn't know squat about Star Trek or Klingons when he took the role.

2) General Martok - A grizzled old warrior with the fire still in his belly. Loved his lines about marriage being like a war. A good actor with the right lines.

3) B'Elanna Torres - This character was poorly written for most of the series. But the character's potential is still there. That, and the Barge of The Dead episode was good.

The Klingons Three (Kang, Koloth, and Kor). Among them, Kang.

Yea Martok was great but #1 would have to be Kor, Military Govenor of Orgainia

I have to go with Martok. Great character, great actor, great makeup.

And the award for Most Uncompromising Klingon in a Dramatic Series goes to...

Kang. Michael Ansara. The Hardcore Dude.

Most of my familiarity with Klingons is through TOS, and through the years I've come to believe that, an uncomfortable amount of the time, they were portrayed as blustering cowards who would fold like a house of cards if you waved a sword in their face - like that one guy Kras from "Friday's Child". Kang was absolutely dedicated to his goal, would not back down, and refused to take No for an answer...but also held his peoples' well-being above his own safety, saw the need for compromise where necessary, and was the first to jump into the fray whenever beatings were called for. Everything a Klingon - an honorable Klingon - should be.

Plus, Susan Howard was total babe material. Come on - who wouldn't join a military dictatorship if she'd volunteer to be your wife and science officer?

Close Runner-Up award goes to Kor. John Colicos did a great job; once again, portraying a man whose ideals and goals - from a Western point of view, anyway - were almost completely reprehensible and yet very understandable. And with the capacity to admire his opponents even while mind-sifting 'em until they were veg-e-tables. Very much like the way Kirk and gang talk about Khan Singh in "Space Seed."

Klaa- from Star Trek V... he was bad ass!!!

I also like the sisters from the TNG and Generations.. badasses too.. (i remember that episode where Picard meets with them for tea - to bribe him or something).. very original ...and nice to look at. Tee he

While not THE favorite Martok would have to take that one, I have always been fond of Captain Korris from Heart of Glory, not only was he the first "real" TNG era Klingon he was a perfect bridge between what we knew and were about to meet. His old samari was matched by what we later saw as Worfs new Samari the samari who had to chage to find an existence in a new world. So in his death was also the death of what we had assumed were the Klingons and when seen in death a tinge of sadness was felt for what was lost.

I'd have to say Martok and the DS9-era Kor. The two episodes Kor was in really added depth to the character - not to mention John Colicos' acting (who'd have thought Baltar could act?!).
