Was the symbol of the White Hand something Saruman only began to use during the War of the Ring to symbolize his betrayal, or did he use this symbol in years before?
To me it would make sense if this was his symbol before his betrayal, so that when the people of Rohan saw orcs wearing the White Hand it would be that much more intimidating.
Anyone have a clue when Saruman began to use the symbol? ;) Thanks
