One herd of cows out of several million and the entire US Beef industry grinds to a halt.

We've had Mad Moo Moo Disease in this country for years and Beef sales are still on the up.

You yanks don't half fret about things (no offence). But when a large number of US citizens cancel their holidays to Britain/Europe because they think it's too close to the Middle East then I do wonder!

It's scaremongering. It sells papers and it justifies what so press does in their messed up little lives.

Let me tell you something. When BSE hit the UK farmers across the country went bankrupt over night. The suicide rate amongst farmers (which is not the easiest of jobs) went up five fold and the farming industry has never fully recovered even now after ten years. Added in a Foot and Mouth epidemic a couple of years ago the British farming industry was decimated. Which is awful because British Beef is considered one the best types of Beef. Just like New Zealand has the best Lamb.

If you were talking from any other country apart from America I would be inclined to agree with you Styro.

In Europe BSE has been bad (no more so than in the UK) but meat sales have not been unduely affected. White meat sales have never been healthier.

I'm just waiting for some retard in the US press to latch on to the fact the BSE has been linked to Varient CJD - although there is no hard evidence of it. But since when did that mean a whole lot to the press.
