I don't think the author is even trying to make a joke. He's just spoofing the Mac commercials that you see on TV, which feature similar people discussing the pros of the Mac over the PC.

The fact that its like an anti-commercial for the Mac is what makes it so funny. Well, at least for me.

It isn't objective, it's what people know and like. Each machine and each operating system has its faults.
