Well, by all means enjoy the movie. It just has problems in how it connects with everything else. (And, like I said, it's a bit over the top in a lot of ways, but The Final Frontier still outstrips that by leaps and bounds...)Quote:

The only problem is thast none of the ships statted in the SOM are accurate. As one example, check the torpedo penetration on the Ranger.Quote:

I once asked Jesse Heinig if we should redo the ships and he said he was planning on doing so. That was about a month before he got laid off. :(
Well, yeah i've noticed that a few of the ships are off by one like the Deadalus (but i attributed its penetration to the Starship chart for 22nd century weapons), but if its only the penetration, its shouldn't be that big of a deal. Is it only the penetration codes that are inaccurate?
I don't have the book with me at the moment, but I remember the discussion with Jesse pretty much established they were all messed up in multiple ways. Also, remember they were supposed to have been made with the rules from the NG (as Starships hadn't been finished at the time).
I might redo them using Starships one of these days (if I can ever find the time)...
The cruising speed of the Miranda springs to mind - warp 3? Not a cruiser by my estimate :) And its torpedo complement at 8 tubes was somewhat over the top! Along with more phasers than the Constitution refit.
The Excelsior, Ambassador and Ranger suffered similar problems as well.
It's a shame as otherwise this was an excellent book by my reckoning.
What about the ships in the Narrator's Guide?Quote:

Most were redone in Starships. I'd have to check...
