I always figured that Norman was something like a combination net server/ system trouble shooter. He would process the metric tons of data needed to coordinate an army of androids and the data they would create. I thought that while he was snagging the Enterprise, the Androids were on some kinda 'independent' mode, but once he arrived they all returned their higher functions to him. So, if he had left before the 'illogical attack' had begun, then Kirk and crew would have been quickly defeated.
I've been toying with some different interpertations of my MU Androids; I might even have some kinda of stats and maybe more back story someday soon.
Oh, and my other pet project: Augments of the MU!
