What version do you (will you) play?

I got into FASA trek earlier this year and played it a few months until my gaming group broke up. :(
We had a great game going in the time period between TOS movies and TNG.

Anyhow, I had to modify it a lot because a lot of FASA trek was based on stats of this and roll against that and moving one space on your ship's deck plans is 1/2 hour game time, etc. You spent much of your time rolling against something and not much time was left for telling the actual story. They did have something going though with their ship to ship combat ops. Each character having their own ship panel made for some situations similar to what you would see in tv combat scenes. "Scotty, I need more power", "Cap'n she's givn ya all she's got", etc

Oh well, right now my FASA books are gathering dust because it's hard to find anyone out there who is familiar with it anymore. I'm tempted to rewrite a new system based on FASA, but I wanna see what Decipher is all about since I never got too much into LUG Trek.

FASATrek - Back in my early days of gaming, my best friend had a group playing FASAtrek. We played Klingons, since the Klingon book had come out and all of us were really into playing the bumpy headed warriors (Too much time watching STIII). Later on, spurred on the by the death of LUGTrek and the lack of a Klingons book, I returned to FASATrek for info... really, the system or the information within are not to my style anymore. While they will fill gaps that the later games may not immediately fill, I won't be playing FASATrek any time soon.

LUGTrek - Still haven't played it yet, but I am a big fan of the system and the supplementary material. This is the game system I may still end up playing, even though DecTrek is released.

DecTrek - I am looking very forward to this game. I think it will rock despite all the (yet) unfounded fearmongering. Since I haven't seen it I cannot say whether I will use it when I play Trek. But I can say I will buy it and may eventually use it, once enough supplemental material is released...

The background was excellent... the detailed timeline was great. I used it to create the NPC captain of the USS Richtoffen. He was an Andorian veteran of the Four Years War... due to Andorian's extended lifespan he was just reaching middle age during the movie-era.

The ship was a Larson-class destroyer. The ship recognition manual had a chart which listed refit dates for that specific vessel, and mentioned that it had been painted red as a prank during one of the refits.

My modification to the systems was simple... add skill and attribute together, divide by 1.5, 2.0 or 2.5 depending on difficulty, and roll d00.

Did you make a list of which skills were add to what stats?

Can you show more?

I also think that LUG and FASA have elements of both that would be made into one Hybrid system that would be pretty darn good :)

Yup..FASA trek....great minds and all that!!! Forgot how bloody long it took to gen a character up (2 bleeding hours!!)
