Utopia Planitia is usually accepted as being a construction only yard.
But who's to say that in the dark times of the 2370's that the biggest (want to be biggest with 40+ building frames) yard didn't handle a hell of a lot of repairs.

Still I mean this is one of those things, we all know why they still use Excellsiors and Mirandas and Oberths...they have the models and it is cheaper than it would cost to make new ones. Still I wish there was some thought in this from Paramount. They seem just not to care about continuity, even if a little bit of it wouldn't hurt the appeal of their product. For the sake of continuality, that any ship built in the 2200's is long finished its line unless specifically implied.
Ie. Excelsior, Miranda, Oberth
Constellation long gone too.
Hopefully a typical contract (shipyard) wouldn't last beyond 20 years or hopefully even 10.
By this guideline, then as of 2375 any class line started after 2355 are still new builds.
Thus obviously Ambassadors a long gone too.
Also those pics have a couple of Galaxies, and if you go off the calender version, E-D is there.

It's possible. Voyager left on its mission to retrieve Tuvok on SD48315. The Enterprise-D was destroyed about SD48632, and had just completed a minor refit (i.e. the sets were modified for the movie).
As for Utopia Planitia being "generally considered" to be a construction only facility, by whom? It's certainly never been stated in the show, and the presence of Excelsiors (including one with a 4000-series NCC clearly visible) in drydock there argues that the assumption is incorrect.

As for how many of what ship is in service, I suppose it is all up to the narrator. In my world there are 200 Oberth's due to be decomissioned and lotted off to various places.

Okay so mostly new ships especially the class ships are generally built at Utopia Planita. And being the biggest shipyard(?) they probably could pump out 30+ ships and still be refitting a similar number.
But clearly there were alot of Excelsiors, and these are presumed not to being built anymore, atleast not the 4000 one. Thus new and old ships!

Re the whole debate about Mirandas, Excelsiors, etc still being built in the mid-2300s, why couldn't they be? The fact that it looks like a Miranda doesn't mean that it's anything like the Reliant on the inside. The way I'd see it, Starfleet would keep producing these proven designs until some major advance in propulsion or defence technology, for instance, makes the design obsolete due to the sheer difficulty of upgrading the design to meet new specs.
For a starship captain there would also be a lot to be said for commanding a ship which was built on the back of 50+ years of evolving construction experience; every flaw known, all the major (and most of the minor) bugs ironed out, easy to fix. Hey, if a Mini could be built to substantially the same design for over 40 years (or the Beetle, down in Mexico), why couldn't an Excelsior still be rolling out the slips in 2350?
Oh, a theory on the lack of Connies - maybe they played the same role in the Romulan and Cardassian wars that the Excelsiors did in the Dominion wars - ablative armour http://www.trekrpg.net/Board/ubb/wink.gif!

The Excelcior you prob saw in the Voyager episode was into Utopia Planitia for an update in hardware, weaponsm, etc... But most Oberths, Mirands, and Excelsiors are being put out of commission. Mirands have put in the most parsecs of any other ship in Starfleet, and have meen in EVERY major conflict during the Dominion War. I have also read in my Star Trek Magazine that all Ambassador's that were damaged will not be repaired, or updated. Just scrapped, or sold to other parties. I hope this helps anyone out.
