My new site

Well, I did do some pics for Dan Gurden, and I've drawn a lot of starships over the last 20 or so years, I do believe I'm getting better at it.... and I have done pics for a couple of other board members.. I could be mistaken about doing some for you... there goes that memory.... but I do enjoy drawing ships. I do orthographic views occasionally, usually when I really like the ship, but usually have to settle for a good port or starbord shot, it saves paper.
I try to find the time to draw whenever possible, what sort of ships were you thinking of, I do enjoy making Movie
Era starships, the refit Enterprise is still my favorite.

Wow that sounds like a lot of ships over the years :)

I would love to take a look at what you have done. Have you got a webpage or somesuch?

As for what I would want. Well I think in the end I would be looking for Romulan ships more than anything else, since between the Jackill's and the FASA manuals (have them all, but not a big fan of the Romulan one) I've got more Klingons and Feddies than I can shake a stick at.

So yeah, it would be Romulan designs I would be looking for :)

You are missing the "time-in" markers. Those pip things worn on the left sleeve of the uniform jacket.

Aslan asked me to post my opinions of the Ultimate Star Trek site.

My first problem is that I don't think Star Trek needs to be reimagined. I like Trek as it is (including Enterprise), and I accept the parts I don't like (Voyager) as part of the established timeline.

Second, I completely disagree with Aslan's decision to reattribute some of the TOS-Enterprise missions to other ships. His contention is that all of the most important missions to the Federation should not be the pervue of one ship, that the rest of the captains shouldn't be waiting around for Kirk and Co. to do "everything." My point is that the other captains were not "waiting around." Instead, they had their own missions of importance to the Federation that just happed to take place off screen (since the TV show was just about the Enterprise and her crew).

My wife also points out that history really only remembers the greatest of explorers and leaders. While others may follow and even do more, the trailblazers are the ones whom history celebrates. Case in point: Captain Cook. How many of his contemporaries are well-remembered? I've done some searches on the internet, and I haven't been able to find any. Were there other European captains and explorers of note at that time? I'm certain there were. But who does history remember? The legendary Captain Cook.

And Gene has said that Cook was the model for James T. Kirk.

Aside from that, I think the site looks nice, and the timeline is tight and consistent (despite my disagreements with its contents).

I just found out that the forum game I'm going to be joining will be using this, and I still look forward to playing Captain Grimm. :)

It is patentently absurd to think that one ship does everything important. One ship is the only ship that saves the day. This is the problem with a TV show, it focuses on one group of people and they do everything. It is the breaking point between TV and reality. Take Law & Order as an example. There are other homovide cops or other DAs and ADAs in New York city, but week after week we see the same cops having their cases handled by the same DA and ADA. Defies reality. But then this is simply my tastes.

Let's look at historic figures. Captain Cook explored a lot, so did Magellan. Davy Crockett did some stuff, so did Collumbus... etc... The one thing is, these men didn't do everything! Cook didn't discover the Cook Islands, stop a revolution in say Indonesia, prevent the destruction of England, bring the Princess of Bali to her appointed marriage with the King of Srilankha, etc...

I see your point, and it is valid, I just don't agree with it.

For those who might think I am being reactionary, I am not. Sea Tyger and I already discussed this is an ICQ chat. I am just arguing for the sake of arguing and do not feel insulted or reactionary to his comments. :)

I thought about including them but then decided against it as it would just complicate things. Not saying they aren't there, just not pointing them out. :)

I like it! It almost makes more sense than the official timeline, which changes just as somebody puts out a new Trek Licence.

It would be cool to see things like Kirk vs. Cardassians, how Picard would handle a V'Ger situation, or how to get tribbles out of Deep Space 9 without resorting to mind-numbing time travel.

While I'm thinking of it, has anybody ever noticied that the first Season of TOS, it's almost like the Enterprise is a joke, and they get no respect from the Fleet?
Or am I just imagining it?

Well, remember the recently re-entered line from Star Trek II about how much ribbing Kirk takes from the other commanders in the officer's mess, because the Enterprise is a "flying death trap." :D

For Aslan's response on the redistribution point, we agree to disagree. :) I say that the other captains were doing similar stuff, they just didn't get the pub that the Enterprise did (probably because the Enterprise was the last survivor of the original Connies). Just two different trains of thought on the same subject. :D

Glad you like it :) Some of those thoughts are what put me where I was going, but in the end I just wanted to get back to a Trek that wasn't tainted by the retro history of TNG. I want my TOS Klingons dag-nabbit! ;)

I like the re engineering of the background. Aslan hasn't done anything that changes the timeline, he just spread some of the stuff out. I have always liked the stories that cover other characters, ie. Capt. Calhoun and co. It gives the universe a bigger feel to it, then just concentrating on one ship.

Looking forward to seeing the site at full power.:)

Now wouldn't that be a fun t.v. show? Diffrent ship and crew every few weeks. Maybe re-visiting a ship/crew now and again. Maybe even jumping around the time line a little. . .NG show one week, movie era show the next. Sounds sweet! :D

Problably cost too much though.

Actually a friend of mine had that very idea for a new series. Each ep would be on a different vessel (Fed, Klingon, Romulan, etc.) obviously repeatition would eventually occur. I thought it was a good idea it could show how the various gov'ts react to the same situations, but it never would fly. First off B&B wouldn't know a good idea if it came up and kicked them in the ass. Second, it would probably be prohibitively expensive to do it that way.

Actually, they already have sets made of Klingon, Romulan and Fed. ships, as well as digital renderings of them.
They have all the make-up work done to create a crew. So cost would be offset a bit by the pre-exsisting effects, and they could use the same cast, or a rotating cast. (There was a courtroom show awhile back that did that: one week you'd be the defendant, next week you'd play the judge)
Besides the B&B issues, some people might get kinda confused by the show. (Not me though; I'd love it!!)
