Now posted on the site is a slightly revised version of the character sheet. A little better utilization of space, and a little better planning, which resulted in fewer weird off-center lines.
Unless strong objection is heard, this will be the sheet for the DS9 crew ...

Perhaps you could use less black outlines, and that would draw less attention to the problems! Remove the black outlines from the vertical, and just keep them on the horizontal maybe? I guess your flexibility is reduced in Open Office, but it might look cool slightly LCARSified, but word was suck ass at layout, so I don't expect writer to be too much better :D
Check the page now. I took your suggestion, did away with all of the black lines, and added lighter-colored horizontal background bands. It does look rather LCARSian, which is a bonus. :D
Now, it might be a little tricky for home use with all blank-white columns in the Skills section (no boundaries between columns), and the vertical alignment still isn't quite right. What do you think? (I'm no layout artist, be gentle) ... is version 3 better than version 2, or should I stick with version 2 (lines) for the DS9 characters?
Yes, Word has negligible functionality for tables. The table-producing utility in OpenOffice 2.0 is wonderful; it's just that big tables have lines that "wander" just a few pixels. And the program is definitely worth the asking price..

Your newer version looks much better, and as a possible suggestion, you could alter the vertical and horizontal stripes to form a plaid (tartan) style effect, so put a similarly light blue vertical column, and where they overlap, put a slightly darker shade...
Yes the columns aren't quite in alignment, but it's less noticeable without the lines ! :D The flip of that is BTW to put in white lines, thus visually pulling everything apart.
Thanks for the suggestion about using white lines, Tobian! I had already but in some grey "tartanizing", but the white lines made the column mis-alignments almost unnoticeable.
This is about as good as the character sheet is probably going to get. So I'll get on the writing-up tonight after work ..
Finally, if anyone else wants to fiddle with the character sheet some more, attached _should_ be a zipped archive of the ODT file used to make the PDF character sheet ... just keep my credit in there, wouldjathanks.
Looking good, though the fonts would have been useful for editing and opening purposes :D

Thanks for the fonts.. I managed to track down trekbats on http://www.dafont.com , but eurogramma seemed to be a mystery font: Very similar to Microgramma (which I am guessing is why you chose it) the Font detailed in Mr. Scotts guide to the enterprise, as the font on the ship :)
Oh and I forgot to mention... on the skills data - second to last column, you have 'misc mod' - but it says 'misc Fnord' :) Took me a while to work out WHAT that typo was supposed to be :D

BTW, One thing I'd strongly considered was producing different color/theme character sheets ... y'know, dark red for Klingons, dark green for Romulans, orange for Ferengi, golden/yellow for Cardassians, maybe all black and dark greys for the Dominion, etc.
The Coda stats for DS9 characters are very interesting.
However, personally, as a Narrator, I would never use any of the major Star Trek characters in my campaigns in such a way as their stats would be needed.
Rather, I would only use the iconic characters of Star Trek as flavor for the campaign, perhaps in cameo appearances. Someone in the background or someone to us as an ally or resource when needed. I think reducing these famous characters to stats (however good those stats may be) diminishes their true worth in a campaign. After all, these are the major heroes of the Star Trek universe. They should be people the players & their PCs look up to & try to emulate.
Also, I would not use any of these famous players as major NPCs in the adventure b/c I wouldn't want the PCs to rely on them to do any skill checks or actions that the PCs should do. If you have Data in your group, why should the PCs try to figure out some complex scientific problem? If you have a warrior like Worf, why not let him do most of the fighting? If you got Picard, why not let him make the decisions, since he's obviously more skilled as a leader?
Anyway, that just my 2 cents. It is, nonetheless, interesting to see how one might Coda-ify these characters.

(5). And of course, although my numbers are, of course, my opinion and thus a bit arbitrary, it might be interesting for new players familiar with Trek but not familiar with Coda to see what skill levels certain characters might be assumed to have.
Of them all, I like Option 3 the best. But mostly, I did this out of a sheer love for this series, the characters, and for fun.
Of the whole lot, these two were the hardest to write up. But I did, and now they're at the site, all typed in to the new character sheet.

I love these DS9 stats, and even more importantly, the new flaws posted on his site in a handy little PDF.

I had actually thought of expanding on the "One Eye" flaw to simply introduce a flaw - "Maimed", with the specific condition of the maiming being specified by the player and/or narrator.
ie.: "Maimed (Left hand)" could indicate the character is missing his left hand, with the appropriate in-game penalties.
Now, I'm going to have to figure up game-stats for various prosthetic, or cybernetic body parts !

Has anyone done Jadzia Dax? I've got all the rest of Scorpion's writeups in a Word doc (thanks to Cut), ready for layout and posting a la the missing TOS crew file up on my site. The only thing missing is Jadzia. Someone? Anyone? Bueller?
If you're still interested, I could give it a go (Jadzia's stats, that is) using Don Mappins conversion guide and the stats given for her in ICON's DS9 corebook ?
