...What?
Every once in a while, you put up a ship that I just don't get. It's a Baton Rouge with an oversized neck? Whaat?
I like this version of the Detroyat
This is one that will throw some people. Basically, this is a long-standing request of 'What if the Detroyat, as per her backstory, was built with Baton Rouge-era components?' Because of the engines, though, you get a ship that's slightly wonky.

I think, for my purposes, only the first four six of the class were built to this configuration. As the PB-32 came online, and new heavy destroyers were ordered (in light of increased Klingon activity), the ships were hurridely fitting with PB-32/I engines and slightly refit (Todd's design).
The ship class was 'completed', with all but the Breckenridge uprated to the 'Polar Lights' design which I posted earlier.
It was an.. odd interpretation of the Baton Rouge from Aridas Sofia on the Starship Recognition Chart. The painting of the Moscow has some bizzare lines on the pylon, which can easily be interpreted this way.Quote:

The problem with it is that, without altering the nacelle pylons to preserve proportions, it looks totally unbalanced... It's a common thing with designs, I suppose, in that you have to maintain the appearing of the secondary hull proceeding like an extension or module from the primary hull–which implies a non-terrestrial shape of movement–rather than the secondary hull looking like a base with stuff sticking out of it–which doesn't suggest movement at all–as the Nordesomething looks like.Quote:

One of FASA's most obscure, mentioned in the main 1st edition rule-book and then completely forgotten.

A long, long time in coming (and a long, long time to make), the Tikopai class, based on the Phase II Enterprise. Actually, so far as I know, it’s the most accurate version of the Phase II Enterprise OUT there, aside from the FJ-style markings.

Another Animated Series redo, the ‘Huron’. A bit tricky, since the various views were all slightly different (particularly in the aft lines).

Ashanti Class Frigate (From Spacedock)
This is actually slavish to the dimensions and mass given for the ship, which I personally think are notably OFF.
http://www.pixelsagas.com/gallery/al...ed_Ashanti.gif
good lord, thats a fugly ship
Indeed. The old "greyscale" Ashanti was way better looking... but you probably strayed a bit from the "official" look of it, huh?
The previous take on the Ashanti really ignored the dimensions and went for the description alone. This one took into account the dimensions and the given mass of the vessel. It's just nigh impossible to get a 'right' looking vessel with all that mass in such a small frame, coupled with the description.
Steve Long didn't really put a lot into Spacedock: TOS , and this is one ship where it shows. He took the concept of the New Orleans class, and made a 'similar scale down' for the Connie as the New Orleans was for the Galaxy.
In fact, the TOS guide is like that A LOT, actually.
Another one sitting on my hard drive. This is a TOS Nelson class, as shown by DC comics. What’s odd is that, otherwise, DC was usually somewhat slavish to FASA and surely would have remembered the Nelson class THERE and called this something else.
Odd. Basically a four-engine saucer. I added some ‘meat’ to the lower dome area just to give it a more believable engineering section.

Ohh....now this one I like. A nice clean symmetry to it
I'm thinking there should be another option than that drop-down dish...
There are a few, but they all break the lines of the ship too much. Believe it or not, the drop-down dish is the LEAST intrusive of the various options out there.Quote:

One of the more ‘demanded’ requests that I have, a TOS version of the Chandley, basically. I really like the dorsal view on this one, but not quite as crazy about the others… hefty bugger, though, for a frigate.

I think you could streamline the side, instead of leaving it rectangular.
and why is the deflector on the bottom and not taking advantage of the space on the front of the side-structures?
What about the Bonaventure-style front dish? Or smaller recessed pods?Quote:

I'd be worried that that deflector would irradiate the bridge... ;)
Hey, the Miranda has two of them, and they seem fine.Quote:
