I've made it to admiral with my engineer my ship is a Galaxy class retrofit. For some reason being able to launch the saucer section increases the combat / survivability in game. The romulan mission arc is proving one thing. The guys at STO underestimated the number of people who play the last two saturdays have seen the servers crash. It was fun though being in a swarm of shuttles :). The Dkyr looks lovely in game. Can I warrant buying it though?

I've picked the game up again. There has been some nice additions in the 8 months that I stopped playing.
I'm taking a break form it this week.. just got my captaincy and maxed out my Galaxy class USS Redemption. After this week the family is heading out to visit relatives so I'll probably split my fun time between this and Gundam Musou 3, which comes out tommorow.
I finally got a decent graphics card and picked this up.
I have an Andorian Lt Cmdr called U'Shaan (his parents clearly had a sense of humour) and he commands the Constitution class USS Taliesin
I also have a Klingon alt called Mawddach who commands the IKV Rabid Targ.
I'm hoping to start another Fed alt when I can afford the TOS bundle :)

Still poking my way around in The First City, but I tend to think so. they went to town with the First City and there area lot of nice little bits they added
I just started a new character, actually - only Lt 3, zipping around in a neat little NX class with blue phasers. :)
I wanted to check out the improvements and such, so I thought I'd get it started again from the ground up - so far I like it, especially the FPS variant of ground combat. It makes things much simpler.
Of course, in order to play, I have to drag my teenager off WoW for a bit...so here's me wishing I had a phaser set for stun...:)
Disrupter assault minigun makes this sci officer very happy
My problem with these games is that I inherently roleplay. I can't seem to stop. I cannot bring myself to equip Starfleet officers with disruptors (or anything other than phasers, for that matter) because...well...just because! :)

Oh, I wasn't taking a shot at you, BC - I was commenting generally. I don't know what's wrong with me when it comes to these things; I know I'd be mechanically better off with, say, a BFG-2409 ( :) ), but I can't bring myself to use it, even if I have it. And I know it's not an RPG and there are no consequences for me using a non-Starfleet weapon, but I still can't seem to do it.Quote:

I don't know if that helps, Aldaron, but I too have difficulties equipping my ships with anything that is disruptor or plasma. I just want to hear the sound of phasers when my Galaxy class is firing. :o
I really like the FPS ground combat variation. To me, ground combat had always been the big let-down of ST:O, and they've gone a long way toward fixing that.
Also, it may be my imagination, but it seems like a lot more NPCs are voiced than before.
FPS mode is fun as is Sniper mode.
hmm....I had not thought of that...the paser assault cannon is nifty tho

I'm game for that. I've got a VA1 Science officer, a Cmndr 7 Tac, and RA1 Enginner we can use to help get the fleet up and running
Count me in too. I got a couple friends I play with as well, and I'm sure they might be up for joining.

well well, i just post to see if someone still play..i'm very suprised but, infortunately, i go on holiday tomorrow for 3 weeks and i back the 22 august....
but if you a alway interresting to make a fleet, why not?

As I understand it you need at least five players together and visit the fleet officer at Sol Starbase, and the system sets it up. The chief can then set any special requirements, and other players can be signed up by fleet members.
I'm more than happy to join - only problem is that being in Australia, my playing-times are usually completely out of sync with you guys in the US and Europe.
(Of course, that's assuming I can get near the PC anyway...with a 14 year old who plays WoW, that's Parental Authority (Teenagers) TN 35 test to begin with! :) )
Even if you can't make it to team up, you could still benefit from the Fleet Bank.

I'm playing a Lt Cmdr 7 Science Office, Mark Johnson.
Commanding the USS Emerald, a nova class battleship ;)
I'm really enjoying it. Steam claims that I have 30 hours in it so far.

I've come back to STO after nearly two years away and the game has massively improved. Klingon play has finally got content and isn't just based on PVP. The new Romulan faction is nice but you don't get to play as the Tal Shiar which I was dissapointed by.
Anyone else still playing or thinking of playing?
I'm out there daily with my Fleet "The Armada" usually around 1700 CST, you will find my in Tau Dewa or Sol Sector normally
