Aslan needs help... again :)

The bad emotion card: I'd watch my players on this one. They'll think you were watching Ghostbusters 2 while making this adventure/series up and then try and make "mood slime" as a counter.

Bring on the Bad Guys: Also, one too many bad guys/things spoils the soup. Redjac, the Beta XII monster...eventually your players will be expecting the Borg to have assimilated the whale-probe (Trek 4) and pay a visit.

I realize you're not going to sick everything on them at once, but they're going to wonder what they did to piss you off. I speak from experience and I'm just trying to pass on some nuggets of wisdom. Throw in a few "Trouble with Tribbles" type stories to keep them from leaving.

Actually only one player would think of that, but since he is playing a Klingon, he will be very busy with his own problems ;)

I appreciate the warnings, and no I won't make every episode dark and moody etc, there will be plenty of light hearted episodes, or non-conspiracy episodes to keep them happy. As for them leaving, my players won't leave. They love meldrama and struggle and hardship and DEEP character roleplaying.

YOu see this campaign is based off the mistakes I made while running the Lexington game. I have learned how to balance this 6 player group a little better and I think I am ready to give them something that will make everyone happy and hopefully me as well ;)

But your warnings are heeded oh Dark Lord of the Cynic (couldn't think of anything to go with Sarcastic, no personal insult intended) :)

Hmmm maybe... maybe... I like the intent of it, jsut not sure about the individual. What about a congress of Organians, Q and Trellane? But not as advisors, but instread observers.

Could lead to that great "Get the hell out of our Galaxy" bit from Babylon 5 :)

I've always thought that Q and Trellane would make interesting adversaries, even before that TNG novel came out. Haven't read it, probably won't. But, I've always thought the premise had merit, it would be amusing to have Q and Trellane as "interested views" watching events unfold and cutting each other up...Maybe even making "bets" to the outcomes. :D

Some small suggestion of mine... just to say I participated ;)
The good and bad forces could be something like matter and anti-matter... opposite forces of equal power. If you want to twist things a bit more, you could state that their confrontation will operate the same as a matter/anti matter conflagration : some big explosion... leading to a sort of "feelings backlash" that would actually wipe all feelings, good or bad, in the universe.

So when the PC bring the good entity near the bad one, they could realise that, as they come closer, some violent emotional surges happen for the sentient creatures in the vicinity (like the Crew for instance ;)), followed by emotional blanks.

So the PC would have to make the choice : either let the entities fight, and in the result wipe all emotion of the galaxy, or find another solution, like for instance banishing the "bad" entity in another universe (the Mirror one ?).

Well... maybe overcomplicating... but I like taking players by surprise when they think everything is finished... especially when they expected to stand by and watch the entities conflagrating. :D

And remember that evil never dies. In Time Bandits, for example, when Evil shatters, one of the shards rolls under the Couch and goes unnoticed by the Clean-up Team.

Dark and Moody is good. Insulted? Never...I keep my ego elsewhere...damn, the cat found it and knocked it under the refrigerator...gotta go now before the dust-bunnies get to it. :D

In a Kirk like moment they have to realise that they need their darkside! It drives them! Pushes them! Blah, blah, blah!

So yeah at the last minute they have to find a way to fuse the two forces, into one balanced force. :)

The Yahtto are mentioned in the Voyager episode "Before and After" as a Beta Quadrant race who make accurate predictions of the future. :)

Love the idea of the "balance must be maintained" ending.
(An interesting point comes up, all that time they were separated, was the universe out of balance? And if it was, how will the universe be different now? Which begs the question, was the good created in response to the evil forming last time, or does it naturally grow in response?)

Q and Trelane on opposite sides, perhaps? (Father and Son picking different tangents?) Or does the Q, with no regard for the emotional state of the universe (since it doesn't affect them) refuse to be involved.

Quest into the darkness a-la LoTR is brilliant. I'd avoid the Ga'ould, but keep the idea of the Devils/Demons being the race that worshipped the Loc-Nar as it grew.

Here's a question, in order to merge, do the Players need to convince Leilu Dallas MultiPass that she has to accept the evil into herself?

It is one of the best ways to tell a story. And it can be re-told into infinity. There can not be light, without the Dark. Nor can there be Shadow without light. Good and evil will remain in this universe, until the end.

Absolutely it is a story as old as time itself.

Now from my point of view, Trellane and Q may have taken sides, passively. They hae a bet on which side will win, but secretly Q is holding out that the heroes will figure out the need to remerge the two sides. But he won't tell them that ;)

That's amazing, I've been searching for sooo long for a really evil threat coming back through the Iconian gateways and suddenly there's this avalanche of great ideas coming out of nowhere!
I must say, my only regret will be that I probably won't be alble to use all of this as is :). Well, maybe it's just as well, I don't want to risk being sued by Aslan for copyright issues :eek: :D ;)
