Anyone in the Denver area may be able to buy the book from Attactix in Aurora. I picked up both the ops manual and Fellowship sourcebook earlier today. After my purchase, they had maybe 3 copies of ops on the shelf.

Wow. Am I the first person to report actually possessing the book? I called my own FLGS yesterday and they had exactly one copy. "Had" being the key word in this case :)
My first impressions:
I was half expecting a book with much more background info than what is presented. More of a sourcebook. This truly is an RPG sourcebook, with a good mix of Starfleet info present. They did cover some of the big points though - each alert condition (including medical and intruder alerts), away team procedures, starship engagement protocols, that sort of stuff.
I was pleased with the new Starship Officer Professional abilities (and professional development packaged) as well as the new skills. Some of those hand-to-hand skills are awesome. I was also glad to see that they included Kirk's famous moves (his open hand karate chop, the leaping kick, and the double-handed power fist).
One (minor) complaint - the cover design. I thought Big D was going for some kind of theme when I compared the PG and NG cover designs (the four captains on the PG, and their corresponding primary nemesis on the NG). Now the SFOM just has a (random?) selection from the different series. Again, it's a minor nit-picky point, and it didn't influence my decision to buy the product one little bit.
Hi,
Attactix really is a stellar shop, and I've never even been there! Very nice folks over there.
Oh, and, can those of you who own the book feel the warm simmer of my jealousy through your monitors? :)
word,
Will
Woo Hoo, Got one in my grubby little mitts tonite:D
Well, my LGS had it in stock, but I only had enough discretionary fundage for either the Fellowship sourcebook or the Starfleet manual.
I got the Fellowship sourcebook. I'll pick up the Starfleet manual once my latest eBay auctions are over and my Paypal account again swells. :)
Got mine yesterday.
I must give Decipher credit; they had it in my hands three days after I purchased it. I know some others have had problems, but they did alright for me.
Liked the dedication to "Crewman Darnell", the first crewman to die on screen (bonus points to the person who can tell me what killed him!), and the "wear the red shirt proudly".
That's about as far as I've gotten so far. :)
At a guess, I'd say the M133 salt monster got him :)
But I'm not 100% certain.
Okay, who am I:
It says... that mine has shipped.
It says... it will be here in a week or less.
It says... I'm going to enjoy reading through it.
It says... I'm eagerly awaiting the next books. I suppose I am.
I need a drink.
Got mine yesterday .This book rocks!Great layout-a quality product.Love the Starbase descriptions.Got to my LGS just as they were unpacking the 10 or so they ordered (Game Towne, San Diego) .My complaints about it-don't have any!I'll be able to use something from each section within my my next few sessions of play. It's better than I expected and I expected it to be good . Thanks Decipher.
Don't know the answer, but my favorite passages so far are:Quote:

Hammer Blow: You lace your fingers together tightly to form one large "fist" and use it to smash your opponent. Amazingly, you're fingers remain unbroken.
...and...
Double Your Estimate (Starship Engineer Tier 2 Ability): Every once in a while you need warp speed in three minutes or you're all dead.
Lovin it...
Well, my FLGS didn't get it in as of yesterday, and the owners will be off at a GAMA convention for most of next week....I'll have to wait 'til Friday.... :(
I have called every game store in a 25-mile radius of Ann Arbor, and just two had (past tense) a copy (and only one copy) of the Starfleet Operations Manual in-store this week. All the others were unaware it existed, or knew about it and chose not to order it because "no one plays Star Trek".
Bloody wankers...
Got it today... excellent book. I especially like the character sheet :)
My vote is for a telekinetically controlled cable under the direction of Gary Mitchell in the second pilot "Where No Man Has Gone Before"Quote:
