Lancer . . . Lt. Lor didn't have any written stats to my knowledge. However, check with CMDR Powers, he'll have the official statement on what Lt. Lor did have in the way of skills.
Currently, if you are to take up Lt. Lor, he is with me onboard the Onizuka (Type 7 Shuttle) and two security Personnel. We were going to try to negotiate with the Roms during the lull in the battle, which was the Role Playing that happened midgame that everyone talks about. We ended up high tailing it due to the fact that . . . well . . . we were in a Type 7 Shuttle! :p
From the knowledge that I have . . . he is a Male Andorian. That's it. Consult Narrator Raets and FMR Narrator 'CMDR Powers' for how this character should be written up and played.
Narrator Raets,
Shouldn't the decision of what happens to the Rom survivors be decided in game?
Having watched a lot of STNG on TNN this week, I've had my conscience 'Picarded' a bunch!
Cmdr Powers approaches the center seat where Captain Ronaldo Marques is reviewing sensor systems damage on a Padd:
"Captain Marques, it is our obligation under Starfleet regulations to make every effort to retrieve the Romulan survivors. However, we can't ignore the fact that they haven't acted much like allies. I suggest that we set up a temporary facility on the flight deck mid-bay. We could put sleeping pads on the deck and put in a couple of portable latrines. Engineering could put up a temporary forcefield perimeter and I'm sure that our Rapid Response Teams will be more than willing to supply security. What do you think, sir?"
Lancer, its great to have you aboard. As per JALU3's implication, you could take over the personna of Lt Lor, a 'male' Andorian (see Avatar I and II novels). Or you could make up your own character. Its certainly up to you. Lor is a PC in a Vanguard campaign played here in Baton Rouge, LA, USA by a gent named Loran Conrad. I borrowed him for the role playing aspects of the last scenario. I don't have his character sheet handy at the moment. He might even be interested in playing :) but this doesn't keep you from making up any character you like. We are using the LUGTrek rules for characters, as they dovetail with Space Dock's rules.
We could also use a good Engineer to handle some of the repair and maintenance problems we now face. We also need a CMO- a person who's resources are particularly strained with radiation, decompression, and plasma burn victims.
I don't know where we want to cut off participation in this game, but we certainly have openings for more than just fighter pilots!
We've just managed to exceed the original message count of the old Akira vs D'Deridex thread! And we haven't even started to play yet (much)
I suggest we open a new thread when we start playing.
USS Vanguard's bridge
Capt. Ronaldo Marques, with a sad expression in his face, talk to his XO:
"It's not a question of regulations, Shannon... rescue the survivors is our moral duty as human beings... Life, even the enemy's life, is sacred... The respect for life always comes first..."
The captain makes a pause. He seem to dig something from his memories... the painful past... and whispers:
"Even the Jem'Hadar's life..."
His eyes reflect some anger after this... some fear... And recovering himself he concludes:
"Execute your plan, Cmdr. Powers. And tell all the ships to use their sensors to help us locate as much of the survivors as possible. We'll take all precautions but I don't want the romulans treated like enemies... At least, not for now... Take the wounded to the sickbay and heal them as if they were starfleet officers.
And Cmdr... schedule a meeting with the command staff to discuss our situation... We have many people wounded and scared..... and a lot of work to do... "
However, I've only recieved one Email from you all, the CAPTs . . . and IMHO that character is STACKED!!!
I told you people, the man was "designed" to be a legend! :D
My first impression was exactly like yours, JALU. But then I went back to the TNG Core Rulebook and read the Contact advantage again. If I understood well, it's like the character have someone who knows his name, knows who he is, know one thing or two about him, but isn't his friend. And the contacts weren't changed.
What do you think Narrator? Have I to rebuild the man? Just tell me and I'll do it. :D
Thanks for your reply on my character, JALU. Your opinion is very appreciated!
See ya
1 Xp to the CO and the XO for excellent roleplaying. ;)
USS Vanguard's bridge...
Powers listens carefully to the captain and responds...
"Yes sir, we'll get started right away. Sensors indicate anywhere from 50 to 60 survivors. Not too many considering the size of that ship. We also need to see about retrieving Sidewinder, she seems to be the only lost fighter worth recovering. I expect Cmdr Lipumano and Lt Lor to be aboard shortly, I'll set up a conference as soon as everyone's ready."
She leans in closer, making their conversation more private...
"Sir, with all due respect, I appreciate your point, but they've shown us nothing but deceipt. I don't trust them one centimeter. We'll treat them humanely, but there needs to be a Security guard wherever there's a Romulan. There's something else, sir- there needs to be a memorial service. We've lost a lot of good people. I presume you'll wish to preside?"
Thanks for the XP! I am really enjoying this!
Excellent! that's the true feel of Star Trek!
Control Tower, mid-bay Flight Deck...
Cmdr Powers arrives in the Control Tower and strides directly over to the foreward section where Chief Johannsen is concentrating on his panels. She leans over his shoulder and takes in the view through the panoramic window looking out over the forward Launch Bay. The Flight Deck stretchs forward to the very front of Vanguard's saucer. To either side can be seen the empty revetments where the Attack Fighters are normally parked. Yellow stripes on the deck indicate the usual taxi-ways and access to the maintenance bays Starboard and Port. At the end of the Flight Deck are the three Forward Bay Doors.
Trident sits on the Alert Pad, waiting to be launched at a moment's notice. Too bad Lipumano isn't here yet to fly her, muses Shannon to herself, but I'll bet Ensign Gallagher will be happy to give up the seat!
Just then Johannsen acquires Onizuka with the tractor beam. Skillfully he maneuvers the large shuttlecraft through the relatively small opening and into the bay. Its a tight fit and Shannon wonders if the Colorado will make it as easily. The Chief moves the shuttle deeper into the bay and gently sets it down on the deck. The hatch immediately opens and Lt Cmdr Lipumano appears at the hatch. He is met by the Flight Deck Officer on Duty and granted permission to come aboard. Followed closely by Lt Lor, the two exit the Onizuka. Lipumano looks up at the Control Tower and sees Shannon gazing down at him, tosses off a salute. Shannon grins and gives him a 'thumbs up'. She keys the intercom and her voice carries over the loudspeakers, "Welcome home, Onizuka!"
Shannon turns back to the Chief, "Okay Chief, let's get Intruder onboard. We've got a lot of work to do."
She sat back in the pod as it rocketed away, pushed on the wavefront of her command exploding.
"I was the first in my family to join the navy since the war with the humans, why did this have to happen."
Seylar contemplated her lost command, destroyed career, and likely the end of her life.
ooc: Are we just doing this on the board, archive site, what?
When we get started, I'll create a new thread to post on; but you send your actions to me at evil-narrator@home.hell ;)
OOG - Sorry guys I wasn't here at the start of our RPGing . . . of all people you think I'd be the one to start it . . . I was working. You know gotta earn cash somehow. Hmmm . . . last check some IMPORTANT positions are still open - CEO, CMO, Ops, CTactO, shall I continue?
IG-
-Stepping out onto his flight deck he takes a couple seconds to survay the scene: Equipment out of place, personnel being taken care of my medical staff, engineering teams doing what they can to repair the major damage. The aft of the flight deck visably open to space.
He sighs, takes a deep breath, then looks towards the FDOD, Lt. Ramos, his face filled with anger, sarrow, and a sence of calm urgancy.-
"Lt. Ramos, SITREP? What is the status of the Air Wing, what and who've we lost? Have you heard anything from engineering about repair estimates?"
-waits for Lt. Ramos response-
-Touches his CommBadge-
"Before you say anything CMDR, permission to keep Two Peregrines on CAP?"
Those of you who have picked up your copy of Star Trek: The Magazine know that it has schematics of the Starfleet Fighter and the Starfleet Scout. I'm here to tell you now that there is a HUGE typo! A Starfleet Attack Fighter is NOT 64 meters long (that would be over 200 feet- longer than a B-36 Peacemaker, the largest bomber that ever flew). It is more likely 64 FEET, which would make it just over 19 meters, or roughly the size of an F-111 Aardvark. You could certainly never get a 64 meter vessel out through those forward bay doors.
Just an update for those of you who might not have noticed from someone who cares a great deal about Trektech.
As for the callouts on the blueprints, they're about as accurate as all of the blueprints printed by this magazine- not very.
Now back to our regularly scheduled game
"Welcome back, Commander. No problem keeping two fighters on CAP. I suggest we keep Delta Squadron (Eagle and Falcon) on CAP for now and rotate them out as we recover the others. Your choice of course, but they are the freshest of our birds. Of course, we'll keep Trident ready to launch, but before I take Galagher and Trent out of that cockpit, I want you to get a little downtime. You've got good people here, they can manage a little longer without you. Captain Marques is expecting us soon in the briefing room, but after that, I'd like you to try to depressurize a bit."
Powers took her hand from her communicator and smiled at the Chief, "I know, I know, Chief. He's not going to rest a bit is he? At least I tried."
She turned from the window and moved to the turbo-lift. The Flight Deck was in good hands for the moment. Now she needed to get over to deck 6 forward and see for herself how badly damaged the forward sensor array was.
By the way, JALU3, I sure hope you can't see out the back of the ship from where Onizuka is parked. There should be blast/fire doors down on either side of the tower. No big deal though, the view is dramatic!
Robbert:
Just sent some ideas for my character over to your 'Narraetsor' address.
Cmdr.Powers:
Since I'd rather play a new character, rather than take over Lt. Lor, our characters could meet up at the forward sensor array you are heading for. Let's see if the Evil Narrator gives me a reply concerning my character before you arrive there.
It's 0711PST . . . will not be able to respond until 1300PST.
Udan out.
Ronaldo Marques looks through the viewport from his office. Out there, the stars. The same stars he dreamed about when he was just a kid back on Earth. Sao Paulo, South America, where he was born, was a giant city. Besides all the city lights, every night he could see the stars brighting in the sky high above.
"They look so beautiful... even today when blood is among them..." he thought.
To preside the funerals of so many crewmates is one of the worst responsabilities a starship captain has to fulfill. Marques hated. The first time was Wolf 359, ten years ago. He was the captain of the USS Endeavor, his first command. Although the Endeavor survived the espisode, with heavy damage, it was a tragic experience. Terrifying. And then, when things like that seemed to be just part of the History, the Dominion War came... And with it, more blood, more suffering, more funerals...
He's interrupted by the intercom:
"Captain, Lt. Cmdr. Lipumano and Lt. Lor are aboard and safe."
"Thanks, ensign."
Back to the real world, Ronaldo turns his eyes toward the computer.
"That's the worst part of this job... Computer, let's continue... 'We are brought together here to honor our friends who fell in battle. They bravelly gave their life to save this ship and her crew... '"
Alone, with the computer recording every word, he continues the difficult task to say good bye to all those who sacrificed their very existence in the name of life. Out there, the stars... just the stars...
You know, one of the interesting things I read in the Dominion War Sourcebook was the attitude of Starfleet. Starfleet was never intended to be a full-blown military fleet. It is primarily a fleet of exploration. So here we are fighting the Dominion, the Borg, the Cardassians, the Tzenkethi, the Tholians, the Romulans, the Klingons, the... well you get the picture. My point is that Captain Marques is an explorer first. And now here he is knee deep in blood. This sort of thing must be traumatic for some Starfleet officers- it certainly appears so for Captain Marques. I hope that my character will be able to give him the support he needs.
Sevekk floats along in a gutted ship, open to space from for to aft.Quote:

He listens to the sounds of his own breath in his vac-suit, and wonders...was it all worth it ?
Of course it is worth it, Loyalty to Commander and Crew above all, and Loyalty to the Empire. Now all that must be done is to survive.
OOC: Ok, so it is really unlikely that Sevekk survived, but he was fun to play.
Exactly Scott!
That's the spirit! Captain Marques is a scientist/engineer. He's married with a female vulcan named T'Breene... a vulcan biologist. He doesn't like or understand well the violence. It's against his nature, but it's part of his job.
Based on our beliefs nowadays, our dislike for violence (the actual violence, not that from computer games), I think that our opinion about it in the 24th century will evolve to somekind of idea that violence is totally unnecessary, something linked to the primitive stages of human life and no more part of our life.
This explains Captain Marques' behavior. What do you think about it?
It is not my place to play a NPC, LT Ramos. That's the Narrators Job.
However this is my description of LT Ramos:
Race: Human ( Filipino/Chinese )/Bajoran
Sex: Female
Age: 27
Brief Background:
Father was an Aid Worker(Human), Mother was a Refugee(Bajoran). Joined Starfleet to help others. Highly spiritual, but doesn't prescribe to either of her parents religious preferences. Ended up becoming an Ops officer.
CMDR Powers- Shall we use you flight deck scetch of the Akira - Carrier Variant for the game?
OGG- Scott We'll go with your Arrangement of the Fighter Group. However, from now on they'll be considered Flights, they'll all be joined into one Squadron due to the small numbers. Furthermore, we can eliminate paperwork and the amount of support staff needed @ the administration level.
IG-
-All this time he waits for LT Ramos to gather her thougts-
"Commander, I'll Keep Delta Flight out there for the time being. Furthermore, I'm going to order the Colorado and all Type 6 & 8 Shuttlecraft to start corraling the Romulan Survivors. Furthermore, tell the Control Tower to use Launch Pads Alpha & Charlie for recovery, and to get those fighters on ready 30 ASAP."
-Touches his Comm Badge-
"This is the CAG to the Fighting 442nd . . . you've done one hell of a job, you should be proud of yourself. Let our comrades in arms die in vain. Let us continue this mission, and lick our wounds . . . And if the Roms decide to come back for more we'll teach them another leason if need be. That is all."
-End of Comm-
"Well LT?" -Talking to LT Ramos-
-LT Lor & the two security personnel head towards the debriefing lounge-
Darnit JALU3, I'm still reading that DWS Steve published. The description of how Starfleet Attack Fighters are organized is pretty concise, only differing in that a 'squadron' can be anywhere from 2-4 fighters. Now, it seems to me that we're quibbling over a very minor detail, so let it be as you suggest for now. After all, you are CAG :DQuote:

Your Ramos writeup is just fine by me. I guess it is up to Robbert to play him.
Why not? However, let me clean up that copy and get a better looking one out to everyone. I'll do that this weekend (yes, even I have a job and this one requires me to work all through the weekend).Quote:

Robbert, I assume you've seen the Vanguard's bridge layout uploaded to LUGTrek yahoo group? Maybe I ought to send it to you anyway. For now, the sketch JALU3 is referring to shows a broad rectangular section through the middle of Vanguard's saucer. Foreward are the 3 launch pad doors that we're now using for both launch and retrieval. Aft are the three larger doors used for retrieving fighters and launching and retrieving shuttles, runabouts, etc. This area is open to space currently, with atmosphere held in by forcefield and the blast doors that come down at the admin area. In the middle is the Flight Deck Admin area with a control tower. In the middle of Admin is part of our no longer functional Primary Computer Core (due to damage at a high deck). The Admin area also has the Fighter Pilot Ready Room and passenger lounge areas. Surrounding the Flight Deck at the upper level is an enclosed observation walkway, similar to the one seen on Kirk's Enterprise hangar bay. On each side of the forward Flight Deck are twelve revetments that normally hold our fighter complement. Shuttles are parked aft and amidships.
Any spots still open???

Hey, Captain Craig you want to play a fighter pilot, right? Have you worked out game stats, yet?Quote:

I am still waiting for a reply from our Pure Evil Narrator (c) concerning my science officer. Hope to hear from him soon - I really want to start playing.
Lancer
Yes I have emailed him some stats , but no confirmation as yet.
I just got a query about a disad. However, maybe he has other commitments like we all do, thats why his responses are slow.
Well subject to proper confirmation, I am LT jg Nellona Cu'Lyrrin
OOG- For the sake of time I'll play out LT Ramos, for now
IG-
-LT Ramos is figgiting with several PADDs while the CAG & the XO talk, waiting for the CAG to finish his conversation-
CAG- "Well LT?"
LT Ramos- "Sorry to keep you waiting Sir, I was waiting for you to finish talking to the XO."
CAG- "OK LT, I understand, however next time I come aboard I want the SITREP in my hand ASAP."
LT Ramos- "Yes sir. As far as the Flight Deck is concerned . . . it looks bad sir, Casualty reports are still coming in and we've lost all of our Workbees. As for the Air Wing, we're down to 8 fighters, and as you know most are still airborne, but no worries, the stand bye pilots and RIOs are well rested and are itching to go back up."
CAG- "Thanks LT, make sure we get those fighters back to Ready 15 ASAP, we don't know who's out there, and we must be prepared. That is all."
LT Ramos- "Aye sir."
-LTCMDR Lipumano looks once more over the flight deck and thinks to himself (This is going to take a long time to repair). He then proceeds to the turbolift to go to his quarters to clean up. It's been a long day, and it's still not over for several more hours. (Boy, it would be nice to get on the holodeck and play some ball for a bit)-
I don't think its proper to say anything in character until the the bossman says my character is ok to play.
JALU3, Lt Cmdr Lipumano sound like he needs a drink. I hope none of the booze was broken in the bar.:)
Okay, characters look good. I'm not going to be very strict about Dp's and stuff, as long as nobody puts shipboard systems 5(6) on it or other Munchkin Mayhem....
Thanx Robbert
Ok
Species: Betazoid (Dr Fraiser from Stargate)
Sex: Female
Age: 26
Postion: Starfleet Fighter Pilot
Brief Background and Personality
Nell is a flirt and an adrenaline junkie. After her betrothed death at 17, she joined Starfleet for the adventure she craved. As a typical Betazoid she is warm, caring and sensual, but atypically she has been known to join in bar fights and other rather odd things.
She currently has 3 kills from the liberation of her homeworld.
OOG-
Narrator Raets - I've sent you my character stats. I hope you've enjoyed them and get a generel feel about my character.
Craig - Welcome aboard, you can consider your Character one of the Reserve Pilots on standby. Also, think of a RIO, you'll need one, even if it's just a rough scetch; or then again you can get someone to play them, or they can just be a faceless NPC. Anything works really.
Oh, about the Vanguard Stats, what version are we using? I hope we're using a modified version of the Type II on the TrekRPG website. Those type X phasers will come in real handy if those Roms get any ideas of starting it up again.
Also we're missing several KEY personnel including, but not limited to: CMO, CTactO, COpsO, CMO, & CEO.
IG-
- LTCMDR heads towards the Turbolift to his Stateroom (The third largest of the normal crew quarters (that is short of the CAPTs and comparable to the XOs). It faces aft looking out between the struts). The crew around him on the deck hurridly get ready to recieve the incoming craft, get things in order after the attack, among many other things.
He waits for the turbolift for a while as the lift system is rather busy with the movement of engineering teams and what not (Or so he imagines). After about two minutes it arrives, a couple of reserve fighter pilots deboard, quickly saluting the CAG, I return the salute. One of them is a Betazed female, new to the Air Wing, her RIO an ENS straight out of the Acadamy, or so he remembers. -
"Deck Four, aft." - The turbolift starts moving upwards-
-Touches his Comm Badge-
"Control Tower, this is the CAG. Use Alpha & Charlie launch Pads for recovery. Keep Delta Flight up as CAP (Carrier Air Patrol) and recover the rest of Fighters ASAP. Furthermore, order Colorado to retrieve the Sidewinder. Also, order all type 6 & 8 Shuttles to start hurding the Romulan Survivors."
"No Chief, don't bring them aboard just yet."
"Chief, I'll be in my quarters if you need me."
-The Turbolift doors open-
Well, looks like we're more or less up and running. Looking carefully at my diagrams of the Akira class, I'm not quite sure where Lipumano's quarters are. It sounds like he's somewhere beneath the Bridge Shuttlebay in an area above the Engineering crossover. I know this sounds picky, and I apologize (its only a game after all), it makes me feel like George Takei when a director told him to just push any button ("but that one will blow up the Enterprise!"). But darnit, JALU3, there ain't no quarters aft on deck 3. At least not with a window. Okay, okay, it doesn't really matter where the CAG's quarters are, quit beating me...:D
Welcome aboard, Nell! Your quarters are in Starboard Boom, deck 4, forward of the Starboard MARA and aft of secondary sensors array. They face outward and you get a nice view of the Starboard side of the Saucer and looking aft towards the Starboard Warp Nacelle. How's that? Anybody else need quarters location?
As for which Akira class we have- it was the one listed in the Space Dock SRM, but with two MARA's (one each in the Booms) instead of a single one in the Weapons Module. Robbert, I know I might be a bit presumptive, but that was the model we used in the last game. I promise I won't mess with your decisions, but I do know our ship. You tell me to back off and I will- instantly- your game.
'Will they simple leave me out here, I didn't think the Feds would do that.'
It really hadn't been that long since her last fateful orders and a run to a lifeboat, but her body had telescoped time to deal with all the incoming problems. The effects still hadn't worn off.
She checked the distress call was still being sent, then queried the comm. to discover the inhabitants of the other lifeboats.
ooc: We could use some more romulans, especially some lower deck types. Just a thought for new players/npc use/those doing more than one character. Romulan Harry Kim?
"Warning! Compartment open to space!"
The computer voice cut through the hissing of phaser torches and the somewhat salty language of a damage control team hard at work. Cmdr Powers almost flinched when she saw the gap in the overhead with stars shining through. Only the reassuring flicker of the forcefields kept her moving deeper into the compartment.
The engineering team, sensibly wearing environmental suits, were struggling with the debris that used to be elements of the forward main sensor array. Plasma burns and foamed duranium, solidified into weird, twisted shapes, had turned a fine-tuned phased array into so much junk. One pair of engineers were cutting useless pieces free while a second pair quickly hauled each piece away from the work area using portable anti-gravs.
Master Chief Tennekar scowled through her faceplate as she caught sight of the XO. The Tellarite growled, "Commander Powers, what the hell are you doing in here without a suit? That field could give way at any moment!"
Shannon stepped over a shattered core element and moved closer to the Master Chief. "Sorry, Chief. I know better. I just wanted to find out how you guys were doing. We're going to need those long range sensors back online ASAP."
Tennekar started to comb her beard with her hand, her glove almost bumping against the helmet before she remembered. "Its not as bad as it looks, Commander. Once we get the damaged array removed we can bring in replacement elements and put things back in working order. Shouldn't take more than a week."
"A week!" exclaimed Shannon, "you've got to be kidding! We need the array back up by tomorrow. Except for short range scanners, we're flying blind!"
"Look," replied Tennekar, in a no-nonsense tone, "Do I tell you how to run this ship? Don't tell me how to repair sensors! If we work real hard- and I don't have to waste time escorting unprotected people off this deck- we might get the array up and the hull patched in 5 days."
"Tell me what you need Master Chief," said Powers seriously, "and I'll get it for you. We need those sensors."
Tennekar had taken Shannon Powers by the arm and was gently but firmly leading her back the way she had came, "well, since you put it that way, XO, free me up some more warm bodies to haul junk away and I'll see what I can do."
Shannon promised the burly NCO that she would free up some more personnel and exited the compartment, feeling a bit better than before. Master Chief Tennekar would come through, she always did- but not without the requisite argument!
Shannon entered the turbolift and said, "Bridge." The turbolift started to move...
Robbert, did you get my email about another position?
I certainly don't mind being a rommie giving some payback :p
BTW how many ships are the rommies bringing in?
