The basics of holodecks are explained in the Starships chapter of the Player's Guide and time travel is mentione din passing in a couple of places. But, as this is the Player's Guide, there isn't really any advice for running scenarios of any kind. Any advice for running and creating adventures would be more appropriate to the Narrator's Guide.

I don't have access to the cover image yet, but I wouldn't be too worried about picking up the wrong book. If the book you are looking at doesn't say "Star Trek Roleplaying Game Players Guide" on the cover, it's the wrong one.

I asked this once before, but I can't find the answer, so (with apologies): will there be rules for "kitbashing" PC/NPC races other than the ones given in the books, and, if so, will they be in the Players or Narrator's guide?

Yes, there are rules for creating alien species in the Narrator's Guide. The three species given (Romulans, Andorians, Orions) are simply examples of that process. :)

Thanks for such a quick answer! If you don't mind a follow up question so quickly: what are the "benchmarks" for attributes? (That is, for example: X number of points of Strength = X lbs of lifting ability.) How do humans fit on the scale?

Okay, Attributes normally range from 1 to 12 (the only exceptions being if you have a Species Attribute Modifier or Penalty that puts you above or below those limits). Humans have no attribute modifiers. So the average attribute is 6-7.

A character can lift a number of kilograms equal to 20xStrength. So a human with a 7 Strength would be able to lift 140 kg. But a Klingon (+1 Strength modifier) with a 13 strength would be able to lift 260 kg.
