Hmmm Perhaps I can whip up a enlarged version of the RNZ including the Arteline sector?
It won't be quite where LUG puts it but close enough :D
A map of the RNZ could be very useful.
Oh, and bump to top.
Hey Sig,
Just out of curiousity where do you put the Galorndon Core?
1/2 light year from the RNZ ;)
Umm, er...
Probably sector 54 or 88 just a sector or 2 'NW' of Romulus by my sector arrangement. :D
Just keeping front 'n center. In other words BUMP.
As above. :D
So of those 1577 posts how many were to 'bump to top' this thread :p ??????????
Hmm we were thinking of a map weren't we....
Probably a few. But hey what can I say, I have to keep track when it falls off the radar.;)

Someone might have mentioned this already, but just in case, I'll stick this out there...
From the Romulan Way series, there's a 'Rihannsu' spelling and meaning for this phrase as well..
"Jolan'tru (Jhollan'trruh) - generic semiformal greeting and farewell.
I know it's not a literal meaning, but it's another perspective..
Great book :) The rest of this makes me curious...have you picked up and read "Killing Time"? That one dealt with Romulan's playing with the timeline.Quote:

In the Praetors Name!
Front and Center. :D
Whoa caught this one on time. :D
So what distances a you hoping for in Rommie space, especially Earth-RNZ-Romulus?
Because I'm starting to work on a 'Birth of the Federation' map :D
Wow, is this a long thread. Now that I've bought The way of D'era, I'll start taking interest in our friends the Rommies.
First, some questions :
1) This has been covered above on this thread, but just to be sure : the Taurhai Unity is only a LUG creation, or has it been mentioned somewhere in the series (my knowledge of the ST series is somewhat incomplete)
2) Did someone try to come up with an explanation of the similarities between Earth's Romans and the Romulans, or is it another of these parallel evolutions TOS was so fond of ?
Then a remark : on the topic of psionic Romulans, I don't see either why there should be none. LUG sources state that the Vulcan could developp their psionic activities thanks to their unemotional mind, yet The Way of Kolinar relates some mind wars occuring before the Time of Awakening (and this is canon, as seen in TNG's The Stone of Gol). If there is a reason for the Romulans not being psionic, I don't think it should be linked with their emotional nature.
Note that this would make some interesting plots ...
Well, that's it for now, I'll probably be back later with other dumb questions and useless remarks :).
I agree the Romulans were underfeatured in ST, while they are the perfect threat race for any TNG stories happening before the Dominion War.
OK, easy answers.Quote:

1) The Taurhai Unity are purly an LUG creation, having never appeared in an episode on TV.
2) No, it was never explained, but aside from the home planets of Romulus and Remus (which allegedly will get some serious re-working in the next movie...), and the rank of Centurion theres not a lot else...
I imagine it was simply a Paralel development that TOS was so fond of...
And Psionic Romulans. Other than my Psion Template, there is a section in the Way of D'era covering this issue. And its simply a matter that the Romulans do not utilise their potential, thus Psionics are rare, but not unheard of... Its under the section about the Tal Shiar (surprise, surprise).
Hey, thanks for the quick answer, Dan! :)
As for the psionic Romulans... I'm starting to think something... how about some occult section of the Tal Shiar, like the Section 31 in StarFleet Intelligence, composed only of Psionics Romulans... could be some interesting ideas here...
Way ahead of you;

Uh... err...thanks :)
Must have forgotten to follow the thread for longer than I thought... :o
Anyone know how to say "BUMP" in Romulan. :D :D
I'm sure we can figure a translation out ;)Quote:

Glad to see this one back up there.
This is a little idea that I have been rolling around for a bit. I've included it in the Romulan game that I am currently running.
Shrike Stealth Suit
Armour: +2 Physical, +1 energy
Stealth Capabilities:
-Advanced materials used in the manufacture of the suit allow the wearer a +3 skill mod to stealth skill.
-Suit is also difficult to pick up on ground based sensor systems, adding 5 to the difficulty of a sensor roll (ie. making a routine sensor check to a difficult one.
Description:
Still working on this. Will post description and history once I have it fully developed.
Have you read Imzadi II? I am sure thats already in existance in the Peter David universe...
As for a description, I cannot remember in the book describes it... But I see it as a backpack/torso carapace mounting a small cloaking device and projector web... Alternatively, many hours of Manga and Cyberpunk have instilled a bodysuit with a web of sensors and holographic projectors, combined with a sensor interference/decoy device... Which give the wearer a chameleon ability and some sensor protection.
The Sneak suit that I have "designed" was a stop gap, in my game they haven't perfected the personal cloak yet, power problems. They will before the game ends though.
I have even been thinking about incorporating a Jem'Hader Shroud into the design...Not perfected yet either.
I'll have to keep an eye out for the books you mentioned.
Bump to top for Adm. Wolf.
Ah, finally a legitimate 'bump to top'
:D
Thanks Phantom :)
I'd forgotton about this thread.
Hey... I do still know how to use a computer :D
Okies, only JUST got back to the boards and this is the first thing I checked on so if I'm asking a stupid previously asked question feel free to shoot me (but only with a disruptor!):
The last thing I read about DecTrek was that quite a few more races were in the main book on the rommies were one of them. Any idea how they're being represented in the new game, rules wise? I'm just curious about how much space is dedicated to them, background information, history, whether or not the new background will contradict LUG (which I very seriously doubt), etc. I imagine any answers I get will be conjecture but hey, that's what I'm here for :)

Since I am here answering a question, BUMP. :D
Just testing to see if there are any problems.
Hi!
There is a new Romulan fan around here :D
Excellent! I like the proverb in your signature.:D
Chello!
Somewhere way down in page one (:D), someone said not to post about the Kli-Rom Cold War thing. what about Star fleet Battles?
While not canon, their explanation for the "disappearance", is that there was a Romulan Civil War about the time of the Movie Era. In brief, a group of military officers overthrew the Emperor and Praetor and founded the Romulan Republic. Rolandus, a nephew of the Emperor and admiral in charge of the Fed Border Fleet, declared himself Emperor.
The Civil War lasted 2 years with Rolandus eventually being killed at a truce. The Senate, horrified, dissolved the Republic and formed a Constitutional Monarchy with Rolandus' daughter as Empress.
Now, I don't have Way of Dera (yet!), but would it be too difficult to integrate this idea into LUG Trek?
I don't think anyone said "don't post" about the Starfleet Battles Universe. If it was worded as such, then apologies. I opened this thread for all Romulan fans. I probably have said that I don't pay attention to that time line. That is just me, Im not much of a fan of SFB, and I prefer Praetor to Empress...I view the Romulan government as a Military Oligarchy...If you read The Way of D'era the Romulan Empire is almost a Republic. When the Praetor passes on (died or relinquishes power) the Senate votes on who is to replace him. Now, not a Republic in the sense of 1 vote, 1 person, but the person running for the office does need the support of the Senate which can lead to the support of the people.
Now, having said that. Yes, it could fit in very easily, if that is how you want the Romulans to be run in your game. The political situation in the Romulan Empire is broken up into various factions (you have factions in the Senate, in the Military, and in the Intelligence community...to name a few.) A civil war could easily have been the result. And indeed could be an interesting scenario to play out. If that is how you proceed, please get back to us with what happend.
just my tiny "bump" to put this to the top....
You all probably seen this picture but for those who haven't......
My Lords, Ladies and gentlemen....may I present.....The Remans!

These are the dudes who are going to appear in Star Trek:Nemesis

Well, Phantom, SFB makes a distinction between the Praetor and the Emperor....while the Emperor comes only from a certain family, it sounds very similiar to the LUG idea.
I'm trying to get a new game going...probably FASA or LUG...don't want to have to learn CODA or the new GURPS Prime Directive (due in May)--I already know GURPS, but it would be a new genre book any way.
Thanks,
Tony
Haven't seen this place in awhile. So, BUMP to top. :D
Well Phantom, I'm sure we'll have plenty to talk about after ST:Nemisis.
I'll try to hold my opinion until Nem. comes out. As some of you may know that is a great feat for me to accomplish. :DQuote:

I know that this may not be the place to ask this, but I figured I would start here and on the PBeM forum to see if anyone is interested.
I am looking to start a Romulan PBeM using LUG's Way of Dera as a setting. Is there anyone interested in joining on? Please Email me..
