Hi JT. Thanks for your criticism of the Venusian Akido. The reason I put the difficulty number so high was twofold. First, I couldn't remember ever seeing the Doctor do it, so I assumed it had to be rare. But I guess I could be wrong. I'll certainly be keeping an eye out for it in the future, particularly when watching 3rd Doctor episodes. Although from PBS's schegule, that'll be a long time from now.
Second reason was game balance. Here we have a maneuver that takes the foe out of combat instantly. That's pretty major. Even the nerve pinch might not work if the target has a high enough resistance. However, I think I can go somewhat lower and still have game balance, I may have overreacted. I'd have a much better idea if I could see it in action.
Finally:

I made the assumption that the Venusians that the Doctor was referring to were human colonists of Venus. To me it just makes more sense. Granted it's possible that another intelligent humanoid race might have evolved in our solar system (although it's already crowded with Silurians, Fendalians, Mondasians and Ice Warriors!), but it is INEVITABLE that humans would have put at least some sort of colony on it during their space exploration period.

I've got to try out your ratio for FASA->ICON conversion! As soon as I can borrow the FASA stuff again that is. Most of my stuff is FASA conversion, but I used a different, less rigorous system. I subtracted one or two points, depending on what looked right.

I know he uses it in at least 2-3 stories. (It's been a long time since I watched the Third Doctor). It's definitely used and described in the first half of "Inferno."

It is a VERY effective maneuver, but I thought making it an advanced maneuver makes it nice and difficult. The Doctor claims that he is one of the few 2 armed beings to master the art. So Venusian Aikido is a rare specialization, and you need to know the advanced maneuver. If a players willing to sink that many points into the maneuver it seems only fair that he get some sort of return for it (IMHO). http://www.trekrpg.net/Board/ubb/smile.gif

In the TV series the Doctor mentions that Venusians have really big feet (far bigger than any human). He also mentions that he (the Doctor) is one of the few 2-armed beings to master Venusian Aikido. This seems to prove that Venusians are not human.
The Virgin Doctor Who Missing Adventure Venusian Lullaby tells you everything you could want to know about the Venusians (except there martial arts!). They don't look remotely human and there civilization died out about 3 billion years before the birth of Christ.

I'm not really sure how well it will work. I just noticed that 6 is the highest LUG skill level and 7 is the highest FASA skill so found the number that translates one to the other. About 10 second worth of work really. http://www.trekrpg.net/Board/ubb/smile.gif

Ok, I finally saw the third doctor use that 'put two fingers on the guys chest to immobilize them' maneuver in action. Actually, I was extremely fortunate in that my housemate discovered a forgotten cache of videotapes, which not only included some Doctor Who, but an episode or two I'd never seen before!
I agree that it didn't seem that difficult for the Doctor, but he didn't use it until the target was pretty much beaten anyway. Ahh, that gives me an idea how to work this in with game balance.
This was in the first half of "Day of the Daleks."

You’ll need to massage it a bit to get into Icon Format, but it should give something to work with.
EARTH REPTILES (a.k.a., Silurians and Sea Devils, a.k.a. Eocenes):

WHEN DID THE EARTH REPTILES EXIST?
In The Sea Devils, The Doctor states that the Earth Reptiles thrived between 53,000,000 to 43,000,000 million years ago (but there weren’t any large dinosaurs then).
Timelink (by John Preddle) theorizes that the Silurians appeared around 200,000,000 BC
Timelink theorizes Earth’s moon arrived (and the Silurians went into hibernation) in 70,000,000 BC. (Preddle is THE MAN for Doctor Who TV continuity).
The Virgin New Adventure Novel “Blood Heat” gives a date of 20,000,000 years ago.
EARTH REPTILE HISTORY
At some point The Time Lords interfere with the genetic destinies of the Silurians, Terrans, and Mandrel. These are probably the only races that have been interfered with in this manner.
Silurian Legends claim that thousands of years ago, a Southern Clan (led by the cruel Panun E’Ni) conquered much of the Earth. It was overthrown by Tun W’lzz who unified the planet under one peaceful government. The Earth Reptile civilization was then ruled by a series of dynasties.
Mankind little more then primitive apes at this point.
The Earth Reptiles observed a small planetoid (called Stranger by the Earth Reptiles) approaching Earth from the Oort Cloud. They feared its passage would draw off Earth’s atmosphere. The Earth Reptiles constructed shelters with deep freeze units. They (and a variety of animals and plants) were put into suspended animation, planing to awaken when Earth’s atmosphere returned. There are at least 429 Shelters. Millions of Earth Reptiles don’t enter the Shelters. They expect to die with the arrival of Stranger. What happens to them is a mystery.
Unfortunately the planetoid didn’t breeze by. Instead it went into orbit becoming the moon. The moon did cause major climate changes on earth that created the race memories of the Great Flood. Many shelters are flooded or crushed by tectonic plate movement. Because of this the Earth Reptiles “alarm clock” never triggered, and they overslept. There are colonies of Earth Reptiles all over the Earth.
The Van Allen radiation Belt developed after this point, this cooled the Earth significantly.
The Sea Devils in Elite Group One temporarily revived around the 1800s.
There are millions of Earth Reptiles in deep freeze units around the world. Many Shelters are destroyed in the 1950s by the dumping of toxic waste in the oceans and deserts.
In November of 1969 Earth Reptile Shelter 873 (located in Derbyshire) awakes due to radiation from a near by nuclear power plant.
In Late November 22, 1969 “Doctor Who and the Silurians” TV episode takes place. The Derbyshire Silurians are sealed into their caves using explosives set by UNIT. Okdel, Morka, and Icthar make up the Triad at this point. Okdel and Morka are killed but Icthar survives until “Warriors of the Deep.”
In late 1969 UNIT deals with a second Earth Reptile Shelter in Oregon.
In early June on 1970 the Missing Adventure Novel “Scales of Injustice” takes place.
The TV episode “The Sea Devils” takes place in September of 1971.
The New Adventure “Blood Heat” takes place in a parallel universe in 1993.
In 2019 the Earth Reptiles at Derbyshire revive again.
“Warriors of the Deep” takes place in 2084.
By 2975 all the Earth Reptiles have been peacefully awoken and become citizens of Earth. They are major members of galactic society.
Earth Reptile Ethra and Teelis are important (if drunken) temporal scientists in 9978 AD.
EARTH REPTILE CULTURE
Earth Reptile language is a combination of telepathy, speech, and gesture. The Silurians are an emotionally restrained race. The Sea Devils have an emotional range similar to humans.
The Earth Reptiles worship the Great Old Ones. Dagon is the most “popular” of the Old Ones. They also wrote the Necronomicon (which describes the Great Old Ones).
Silurians are ruled by the Triad. Position is decided on age and scientific knowledge. The laws of the Earth Reptiles forbid war except in self-defense. The Silurians live in massive cities made of crystal. Their capital city was located in East Africa. Sea Devil cites are underwater but are filled with air.
Earth Reptiles believe that their DNA must be pure. Silurians and Sea Devils can interbreed but the offspring is sterile and only live for 50 years. Interracial breeding is capital crime (the children are killed as well).
It is common for Earth Reptiles to keep dinosaurs as pets (They might have used DNA samples to clone dinosaurs which were extinct in there own time). They use Allaosaurs and Tyrannosaurs as watchdogs. Brontosaurs act as beasts of burden (pulling carts and stuff). Dilophosaurs are often ridden (like horses).
The man apes that existed millions of years ago were viewed as little more then pests. These apes were tormented and killed for sport by Earth Reptile children.
EARTH REPTILE TECHNOLOGY:
Earth Reptile technology is much more advanced then 20th century man, including weather control. They choose not to develop nuclear power because of the military potential of the technology. Instead they rely on geo-thermal power. They use huge airships for long range transportation. They often use a refined metal similar to steel, for their tools and other devices. The infrared signals from the third eyes of the Silurians are used to operate much of their equipment.
The Sea Devils have several military units and battle cruiser submarines. Sea Devil combat armor is immune to hand lasers. The Mykra is genetically engineered as a weapon of war. The Mykra is immune to had lasers and can discharge massive amounts of electricity at will.
The Earth reptiles have excellent understanding of pathology (viruses and stuff). The Earth Reptile’s bio-engineered plague is designed to kill the man apes by causing a surge in “strength” that burns up the bodies resources. While this is happening the victim will wander aimlessly spreading the disease. It is a very painful way to die.

The stats I posted are ICON (sorta). I was to lazy to work out the official name and specialization for the skill or, to work out the game rules and point costs for the advantages/disadvantages. But the skills/attribute levels are fairly accurate translation (IMHO) of the FASA and Time Lord game stats.
If you could make templates for the Silurians, and the Sea Devils it would be great!

JT, I was in the middle of doing just that. However, my version of the Earth Reptiles is having a few problems. Namely the Silurians third eye ... what exactly is it?
It's a weapon, a tool, also a communication aid (It flashes when they speak doesn't it?).
I was going to make them telekinetic, they could open doors with their third eye.
As for it being a weapon, it must have a kill and heat setting (they can burn through walls with it), I also assume that it would have some kind of stun setting. But how do you think it would work? If it is a psionically generated effect, than it could be disrupted by some kind of psionic jamming device. Or if the effect is generated by some kind of natural bioenergy, how many shots can they get off before tiring?
My main problem with it is, that it can do a number of different things.
What do you think about it?
