Yeah, it's less the size to me and more how it connects to the hull itself, the 'slice off a piece of the saucer and crazy glue this brick to it' doesn't feel as natural as any other Federation craft that we've seen.Quote:

USS Sherabo Class Research Frigate (Miranda Variant I)
The Lantree is one of those ships that bugged me in TNG, and it still does. First, it's ALMOST a Miranda class, but it's described in dialog like an Oberth (a lightly armed research vessel, not exactly the frigate we know, is it?) Second, it's the only Miranda class vessel we see of that type.. and, lastly, why the HELL is Starfleet giving new and DANGEROUS missions (first contact, no less) to ships that are at least 80 years old?! Not just the design, which is bad enough, but the actual SHIP!?
Ugh.. anyway, I made her a part of the Sherabo class of reserach frigates, varied a little from the model (they botched the decaling on the original anyway.. so , feh)... and made it a batch of 12 with two of them being refit Anton class cruisers. If you google 'Sherabos' and 'Lantree', you'll get the joke...

I really like the direction you're going with this, Neale, but I don't always agree with your assessments or your take on Star Fleet (which is only natural; as I've pointed out, there are as many different versions of Star Fleet as there are GMs who run the game). I also confess that I don't much like the SFB ships you've included, considering my extreme distaste for SFB in general.
I'm tempted to use the art you've posted and do my own version; I want to do something like that anyway for my own game, but I wouldn't want to use your art without your permission, and I wouldn't want to seem to be insulting you with my own netbook of this stuff. You wouldn't take offense at this, would you?

As for the inclusion of SFB ships, I guess I just don't see why you wouldn't just ignore them for your own purposes, rather than duplicate effort?

Well, I've got several players that are good role-players, but don't have the grounding in Trek that many of us here display, and I'd like to be able to just print the thing off with my own text and historical details and not have to pick and choose pages that I'd have to remove before doing this. I don't see it as much a duplication of effort as a different imagining of things, and a wider variety of viewpoints to choose from. IDIC, in its own way. :)Quote:

In any event, it's not something I'll be doing any time soon. I'm still trying to get all the boxes unpacked from my recent move, and my wife's pregnant, so there's a lot of things to keep me busy.
