Yeah, yeah, I know that Enterprise now has officially threw out the 'possible futures' thing about the other series, but it would be nice if the powers that be pretended to have an ounce of respect for the franchise...Quote:

Hey, I thought they were going to screw-up continuity completely with TrekToday.com's erroneous report of the Eugenics Wars being moved to the time of "Borderland."
"Borderland" was great! It had a story that kept your attention and had a real Original Series feel to it. Let's hope this season brings us more of that.
Exactly what continuity do you think they're violating? The way I read it, they're making a conscious effort to fit this into established continuity.Quote:

On the one hand this sounds very exciting.. on the other hand, my intertial dampeners are set to maximum to prevent me from injuring myself when they break continuity... again.. Ok injuring Paramount :D
I have hope someone might watch a couple of startrek episodes before they make this :) ... you know, the TOS episode etc :D
Manny Coto is a huge TOS fan. He knows his stuff. If he violates anything, it'll most likely be fan assumptions, as opposed to real continuity. ;)
I also have a sneaking suspicion he's going to try and fix that Romulan cloak SNAFU from Minefield.
Well I hope so, and it's not a 'fan assumption' that the Vulcan's didn't realise the Romulans were really Vulcans, it's a stated fact, much like all of the other continuity errors they made.
No, it's true that Spock didn't know. That doesn't mean every Vulcan was ignorant of the fact. It also doesn't rule out people finding out then dying without passing it on, or some sort of cover up.
Maybe they lost that information in the same hard drive crash that they lost all of their Borg information on... and err.. they accidentally.. lost.. the wreckage of the Borg sphere and the Ferengi videos and the ..... ;)
it's possible.. it's just going to make me groan when it happens :)
When was it stated that the Vulcans did not know what the Vulcans looked like?
Just because Spock did not know does not mean no one knew. It could be a secret known to only a few.
Here's how I would do it... Have the crew of Enterprise interact mainly with Remans, have scenes with the Remans meeting with their Romulan masters. You could even have Archer and T'Pol actually meeting a Romulan eventually, with a decision to keep their appearance a secret for the good of Vulcan-Earth relations...
I've been fairly pleased with season 4 of Enterprise after giving up early in season 3.

"It's a secret"? Why? because you don't WANT your intel services to keep an eye out for Vulcans-who-aren't-really-Vulcans?
This is going to be a big pill to swallow, and Trek, frankly, hasn't been able to deal with these things in the past ten years well, so I am more than a little skeptical that it will suddenly happen now.
For your information, according to the reports of the episodes in question, Archer and company do not find out what the Romulans look like. As others have pointed out, maybe you should watch it before passing judgement.
