Just had a thought......maybe pointless but what the hell!
If anyone has starship deckplans (any), planet atlases, city maps, starmaps and station maps....would you all be as kind to post them or a link on this thread....my reckoning is it'll save a load of time for lazy individuals like me:p to hunt these things out!

Owen's Relic site (http://www.coldnorth.com/owen/relic.htm) has some excellent plans. Chameleon-class Scout/Freighter, Oberth-class Scout, Danube-class Runabout, Type-7 Shuttlecraft, and Shuttlepod. Owen does my favorite style of plans, capturing the "Starfleet style" quite well both in the actual plans and in the presentation of those plans.
Dan G's Venture site has some Owen plans for a Romulan courier and for the scout ship seen in Insurrection. (http://www.theventure.freeserve.co.uk/)

Paper Miranda-class plans (or Avenger-class depending on your preference) can be purchased at http://members.aol.com/~fh1860/. Excellent set of plans. The author is currently working on plans of the ST:TMP Enterprise.

I have done deckplans for several Federation vessels. I posted a link to my Nautilus-class deckplans a while ago, after which I did the Java-Class Cargo transport and the Emden Class Escort. Both the Java and Emden are from Bernd Schneider's site, I used his ship exteriors and made my own interiors trying like heck to stay within the parameters of the vessels as described. I will post these as soon as I get them up on a website somewhere, probably in the next week or two.
I used the Java for a setting on a 'Bluegill Parasite Invasion' adventure and the Emden was originally supposed to be the vessel the PC Crew was assigned on after one of them got their own command. Because I decided at the last minute to make my own vessel from the 'ground up' however, I sort of stopped on the Emden, which means that there are still one or two relatively minor blank spots in the plans. The Java plans however are complete and serve as a nice setting for an adventure. I will probably have the players board an Emden Escort at some point in the near future (a derelict ship adventure maybe) so that I can get some use out of them.
I have the Players 'new' vessel, a Size 5 Republic class cruiser, almost completed now. Once I finish with that, I will probably take on a Starbase, or at least a few of the levels where the players would likely find themselves in the course of their adventures (Ops, Power, Computer area, Typical Stateroom areas, Typical Lab areas, Cargo Facilities etc.).
I'm hoping to get Cardassia City done for the next release of "The Cardassians" - it won't be detailed, as there are over half a billion inhabitants, but it will include a close-up of the Imperial Plaza.Quote:

One thing that drives me nuts when doing my geeky deckplan search is the rather liberal definition most webmasters use for a set of "deckplans". Deckplans are not a list of decks and the main rooms that can be found on them. That covers the deck part, but seems to be missing the plans.
I do know that if I ever need to add a deck to my house I can use the same search I do for starship deckplans... :D
I have to say that I agree completely with Dan there, most people think Deckplans are simple exteriors or lists, this is especially true among the Sims that I have been sent to on the wild goosechase after "deckplans"
My own plans are complete maps of the interior of the vessel, originally using of all things Paint (the one that comes with windows) and some scans of the Enterprise-D plans, but now using my own drawings for all components and Adobe Illustrator (which I am still learning tricks for but the plans look like the best I have done thus far).
I would also have to say that Owen's Deckplans for the Danube and his base plans are wonderful, I have used them more than once in the past and think that they have significantly enhanced my games. Thanks Owen!
What really knocks me out and makes me wish I could emulate are the interiors of the station someone posted here using 3D programs. Those are neat! I have managed to secure the program but have not yet found the time to learn enough of the program to make stuff. I wish someone would model my new ship once I post it (hint, hint).
I would desperately love to sit down and draft detailed Intrepid class deckplans, but I just never seem to find the time. I figure I could use CorelDraw to do it, and scan and redraw all the different room types from the Enterprise D deckplans.
One of these days I might actually get around to it.

I don't know where people get the ideas that a deck directory is a deckplan, either. I guess I come from a different background, both fannishly - I bought the original Franz Joseph deck plans when they originally came out - and artistically - I used to work for an architectural firm, where I learned the difference between plans, elevations, sections and all the rest of it. I've also been disappointed in many published deckplans in gamebooks. Sometimes they look like they were drawn in pencil on graph paper with no rhyme or reason. Sometimes you have to wonder whether the illustrator has read the description of the ship (case in point, the 200 ton Free Trader from Traveller works out to 900 tons displacement!)
I would have liked to have seen deckplans in some of the LUG ICON game books, but apparently their license wouldn't allow it. Too bad, because the chap who did their "location plans" in A Fragile Peace (available in the ICON Links section of the Computer Core in the main TrekRPG.net site) really did a nice job.
You obviously know your stuff Owen, so this isn't questioning your competence (just curiosity) - is that water displacement or Traveller hydrogen displacement? I know there's a big difference! :DQuote:

I'd love to see you take a crack at some of the bigger Starfleet ships.
In the Traveller:The New Era, for which I have FFS (Fire, Fusion and Steel). All Displacement no matter what you are designing is in Hydrogen Displacements
All Traveller tonnage (except perhaps the bastardised version perpetrated by Steve Jackson Games) uses hydrogen displacement. In gaming deckplan terms, count the deck squares, divide in half, and you get the tonnage.
That was just a slightly off-topic example, though. With Trek ships we don't have that sort of formula, but I was just pointing out that even games publishers often don't follow their own rules.

I think the "200-ton" trader in Traveller was supposed to have a cargo capacity of 200-tons, although I don't have my books handy.
At least starship aren't as bad as the data for old sailing vessels. There are several methods of getting tonnage include multiple ways to determine "displacement".
Nope, it was supposed to be a 200 ton ship with 46 tons of cargo. They even give the displacement in cubic metres (2800) and the dimensions, which when worked out give a ship of 873 standard tons displacement. They just flamingoed up completely.
Anyway, that's another system completely. I just brought it up as one of the factors that got me into doing deckplans which made sense.
