The autodestruction countdown thread

All right. We all know this wonderful place is going to self-destruct like the Enterprise in STIV some time from now...

...so I though of a stupid thread idea, sort of like the "Be a winner" thread, only there's no winner (since Don wins!). I think we're all very much moved by the end of TrekRPGNet, so I thought, well, instead of being sad, why not try to end the adventure in some humor, in tribute to all the good moments we've had here, in tribute to the past?

The idea is to be the last one to post before the site goes down! You know, like the New Years Eve countdown... You'll have the joy to know you were the last one to post on these wonderful boards...!

And who knows, maybe Don will enter his authorization code before the ship explodes... ;)

Somehow I must have missed the announcment, that Don has made up his mind and TrekjRPG-net is finally going down. I am very sad, but support KW idea, as I just did :)

I'm going to miss this site. beiing a member since shorty after the forums went up, I have never really posted that much, but I will miss joined efforts with BC like "our" Galaxy class refit program or the ability to stay in touch with people like Dave Biggins.

This board will be missed by me and it will take a huge effort to take it out of my "favorite book mark section" of my browser.

This said, I'll search for Don's Thread declaring the end so that I will have read it myself.

That's what I meant, I know a Pyro technician.. actually when I think about it, I know two, though the other one lives in australia, as oposed to 1/2 a mile away :D

I dunno... Half a mile is too close for comfort for nearby pyro guys. (I did a little of that myself in college long ago...) In fact, keeping them antipodinal to yourself might be the best idea. 12,000km of solid rock is about the minimum safe distance when a pyrotech says, "Dude, hold my beer & watch this..." :D

Whom would we need to postpone the countdown? The obvious one would be Don but who else...?

Thanks for identifying where I had heard the joke before, all I could remember was the line and that it was funny. But had forgotton all about "Spaceballs: The Flamethrower. The kids love that one."

Spaceballs is a fun movie. I actually own it on DVD.

Yes, he did to me. I indiciated that in a post, either on the Ferengi Blue Room or on the Poll on the Future of the Site. I also talk to him Saturday where he indicating the the August 23 deadline is an "artifical deadline".

When I think of the ways this site could be taken out, I'm reminded instantly of the two ways a starship is removed from service by Starfleet:


1) The ship is lost in the line of duty.

2) The ship is deemed to have outlived its usefulness and is "gracefully" decommissioned.


As for this site, it has certainly not outlived its usefulness. If ya gotta go, go with a bang, I say!!

Capt. Anderson will mourn for loss of this site.

Speaking of ways to go out with bang, how about blowing up the engine section and crashing the site's saucer section into a planet.
