Ju'day Class Specs [SS]

Ok, so I decided on the Ju'Day class. I based it on the one presented in Dan Gurden's Maquis SB. Let m eknow what you think.

I like it, it's fast enough to be viable but not too fast, although I would consider giving it a slightly better phaser capability perhaps if it's a patrol vessel. I really like the write up though!

Easy enough to do. Upgrading to type 8 phasers costs no extra space, but increases penetration to 4/4/4/0/0. Voila :)

I see this ship being assigned a "fresh" crew just after finishing their cadet cruise. Allowing inexperienced pc's a chance to have their own ship.

As it would be post Dominion War, I may tinker with it for the possible "upgrades" it might receive.

Nit pick on the crew break down. First off, you list six each of officers and enlisted instead of 5/7. And also, I doubt Starfleet would have an enlistedman (or even an NCO) as XO and in charge of several officers. You might want to consider making the XO a JG or Ensign and even having fewer officers by making some of the department heads be NCOs/enlisted instead of JGs.

What I would do (but this is just me), due to the low crew numbers, I would make the XO combined with one of the other Officer roles. Allowing for an extra Ops or Engineer enlisted.

I would also toy with the idea of combining the Science/Medical role, as it is less likely to need a full-time scientist aboard. Again, this then allows for an additional crewman.

However, nice write-up. And certainly worthy of its source material (if I do say so myself! :D Thanks for the compliment of using it).

Oh sure Doug, go ahead an nitpick my lack of basic math skills wht don't ya ! :)

Yeah I was basically looking for someone to "Babysit" the ship while the pc's were away. What I might do is just have the pc department heads (such as they are) be Junior Lieutenants and make the others enlisted.

I can see doing this for the science/medical guy if he is an npc.

Edit: I tweaked the crew list. Got rid of the XO altogether, but left a scince guy, but made him an enlisted. Added the spare crewman to operations.

Is an XP an update on an XO Doug?

Does this mean that LCARs is run on Microsoft? Or just the officer corps? ;)

Refit Edit: Just noticed Type VIII has min size of 5, so adjusting phasers back to Type VII.

Just for info, I had also recreated the Ju'Day class in Expanded Spacecraft Operations, pp 90-91 :) Globally, my version is very much similar to IceGiant's writeup.
