All basically unknow factors to most of the new breed of Starfleet Officers, only the senior staff would have been old enough to have faced these races in the past the Jr Officers would have been too young.
And I admit that the Borg wasn't the best choice perhaps... but that (IMHO) is a minor quibble compared to the other issues.
