I think that there might be numerous online Star Trek RPGs. As you post your question in the CODA section, I think you are especially interested in a CODA game, right?
There have been some takes to set up a CODA game on these forums, but so far all of them have failed. Most of them even before they really started.
Are you looking for something specific in regrads to gameplay, style and era?
Nothing specifically, just that I like the CODA rules.
I, too, would be interested in an online game - perhaps with Skype, OpenRPG or the like. I prefer TNG era or later, any quadrant but would consider just about anything. :)
Since it's been so hard to get face to face players together for me, I've been thinking about getting a chat game going on MSN or something...
I personally don't have a set time of each week where I can chat, but am able to work on a forum play-by-post, which I feel makes for easier record-keeping.
If someone's willing to GM and put the whole thing together, I'd be up for a Star Trek pbp here (or somewhere else). I don't really have much preferance as far as setting goes.
Check out the Gaming Hub subforum for any online or face to face games. Just checking there is at least one online game proposed.
The thing is, one of them hasn't been updated since May and appears to have fallen through, and the other isn't exactly a standard CODA game.Quote:

My forums are setup to accommodate both Star Trek and LotR CODA games with character sheets and dice roller, but we are not restricted to those game systems (we currently have some Star Wars Saga going, too).
I have a Star Trek campaign that is on hiatus right now, but I may be starting it back up in a month or so. But, I'd love to have some more GM's come over and run their games there.

Thanks, Av. I'd GM, but I lost my GM's guide when I moved. I've got some ideas though. But I'd still love to play as well.
I registered. Used my same handle from here.
You are welcome to join the game! I will let you know on this board, as well as my site.
I joined the avioc site. I posted there about the game, but so far no one' responded.:(
Sorry that you have gotten no response but the person you asked about his game has not logged into my site since May 2009... not thinking he is coming back.
As far as other games go - you are welcome to start a game and run it. I am currently GM'ing four games, although one, my Star Trek game, is on a bit of hiatus while we have fun with Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. I will be starting that game up again in about a month, but until then I am maxed out.
You are welcome to set up a room and run a game, or invite another GM into run a game... whatever you want to do, or you can see about entering a PC into a different genre game. But again, I am not going to be taking on anymore GM'ing until I put a game on hiatus.
Sorry.
Okay, I'm going to put my head out on the guillotine here.
I have been itching to run a new Star Trek campaign. My face-to-face group is in the first half of another campaign, and I'm taking a GMing break for a campaign after that.
So, if I want to run a Star Trek game for a while, I need to do it online.
Here are my parameters:
1. This will be a Starfleet shipboard campaign. I'm divided between having a PC or NPC captain, but we'll decide that later. The PCs will otherwise be department heads on a mid-sized starship. We'll figure out number of starting advancements later.
2. I'm looking primarily for a TOS feel. My timeframes are 2245, 2255, 2265 or 2280.
3. The game will be played with CODA rules only. All Decipher-published material, with few modifications, are in play for character creation. I must insist that all players have at least the Decipher Star Trek player's guide.
4. We'll play on a forum, and I want to try to keep up a 1-2 post per week pace.
5. I think we should keep the game to 4-5 players, although I can be convinced to add a sixth.
So, is anyone interested?
TOS = made of win. I'd enthusiastically volunteer. Recommend rpol.net if you run the game off-site. I'd love to use the character I originally created for Aslan's Ultimate Trek game, a Tactical Officer with more of a focus on away-team tactics than starship combat, but he'd need tweaking since he was on the older side. Aslan was using the rule that one year peacetime / six months wartime = one advancement, as I recall.
I'd love to get into this game (especially Coda TOS, especially especially 2280), but I've got a full plate in my last year of undergrad studies. Sooo, if this game takes flight and there are openings around May, please send a subspace communication.
Raconteur,
I go with a similar experience track:
1 advancement =
- 6 months "intense activity"/wartime service
- 1 year standard military service
- 2 years of civilian life
I'll work with each individual player to determine their starting rank and length of service, based on their position and background.
I'm interested if there's still room. My chances of face to face Trek gaming are slim to none at the moment and TOS is my preferred era.
You know me, I would be down to play, but down own the CODA books :-( so I guess that counts me out until I can afford it. I'm in a wee bit of a financial squeeze recently.
If it were ICON, I'd be all over it like a striper on a 100 dollar bill.
For those interested, I've just restarted my CODA game at RPOL. You can find it here: http://www.rpol.net/game.cgi?gi=24942
All are welcome to join.
Well, that's two, so far.
Raconteur
Renny
JALU3, I found trying to build a character in CODA to someone else's specifications was overly difficult last time I tried this. I'll tell you what; because you want to play and I would love to have you in the game, I'll let you make a character in ICON and I'll convert him/her to CODA. (I won't do this for anyone else.)
Do we have one or two more interested players?
Sea Tyger, I am sorry for being SO difficult last time. I am humbled by your want to have me, and will post a character. Hmmm ... TOS. This is Old School TOS, right, not Reimagined TOS, right?
By the way has the communited decided what the new three letter Abbreviation will be, is it ALT, or something else?
J, hold off on putting the character together. Come up with a basic concept, but since we haven't settled upon a starting date, don't set anything in stone.
Of the proposed starting dates, I'd likely vote for the extremes (2245 or 2280) over the middle pair (2255 or 2265). In 2245, Enterprise is brand-new under Robert April, and in 2280 we would get Movie Era uniforms. :)
J and Renny, between the four starting years (2245, 2255, 2265, 2285), what are your preferences?
So far, Raconteur prefers 2245 and 2285.
Honestly, i'm happy with any of the proposed dates. If pushed, I would probably lean towards 2285 if only because i've gamed most in the movie era.
One note of caution:
I plan to introduce relevant issues as moral dilemmas into some adventures, in the spirit of TOS. Because of that, I please ask that you check your personal political views at the door. I will not try to ram my version of politics or morality down your throats, and I ask that you treat your fellow players with the same respect.
So far, we have two half-votes for 2285 and one half-vote for 2245 (I have a possible player who also prefers 2285; if he joins in, it looks like we'll be playing in the post-Genesis era.)
JALU, your preference(s)? If you're good with 2285, I'll put together a list of possible ship classes for your perusal.
I'm going to say that the story will start in 2285.
Aside from CO (I'm still of two minds about a PC or NPC captain...I will initiate contact with a player should I decide to go with a PC CO), all department head positions are available, including XO; however, I think I'd like to see a first officer who is also a department head. Go ahead and list your first and second preferences for department position (and whether or not you want to volunteer for the first officer position).
Helmsman
Navigator
(Security &) Weapons Officer
Communications Officer
Engineer
Science Officer
Medical Officer
- The first officer will hold the rank of lieutenant commander
- The rest of the department officers will be either lieutenants or lieutenants, junior grade
- The medical officer and science officer will be required to be a minimum rank of lieutenant; I may allow the medical officer to be the rank of lieutenant commander
- The first officer may not be the medical officer or weapons officer
Ships
I'm considering the following classes of ship for the campaign:
Anton-class cruiser (2268 refit)
Wilkerson-class destroyer
Thufir-class destroyer
Northampton-class heavy frigate (original)
Loknar-class heavy frigate (2269 refit)
I am leaning toward an Anton, Wilkerson or Loknar at the moment. I even have a name for the series if we go with an Anton:
Star Trek - The Last Anton
:D
I'd like the science officer position (and, if no one else goes for it, I'll go for the XO slot as well).
Barring that, I'd like the medical officer billet.
Any of those ships is fine by me, though I'd personally lean toward the Anton, I think.
I'd like to plump for Helmsman as first choice and Security (Weapons) as second. I personally love the idea of the Anton as well. Always liked that ship and it's an unusual choice.
As much as I'd like to game alongside you, I just can't make the commitment right now. But my question would be: Where will you be playing, and could one read along, please?
I'm looking at either onlineroleplaying.com or RPG Resouce Masters (rpgrm.com). I'm a member of both sites, though I'm only currently playing in a game on the latter; both have dice rolling code built into the forums, which I like.
Lurkers are always most welcome.
Hey, if you still have room and are accepting more players, this looks like something that I'd like to get into, if its a 2280-ish game. I have the same role preferences as Renny, but I'd be plenty willing to do either one. As for ships, the Wilkerson strikes my fancy, but I don't care too much about that.
Welcome aboard, then, Nolmir. :) That gives us the following players (with department selections in parenthesis):
Raconteur X
PGoodman13 (SCI+FO/MED)
JALU3
Renny (HELM/WEPS)
Nolmir (HELM/WEPS)
I think that will give us a good start. So, Raconteur and JALU, could you please give me your department head preferences? Thanks.
Renny and Nolmir, maybe you can negotiate between yourselves on which department each of you takes? If you both really want to be helm officers, perhaps one takes Navigation (which also falls under Flight Control Officer elite profession)?
For ships, we have two votes for the Anton and one for the Wilkerson. I'm leaning more toward the Anton at this point, so, unless JALU3 and Raconteur have strong preferences for the Wilkerson, we'll go with the light cruiser.
