Your least favorite Trek character

At risk of starting a "beat-up-on-Wesley-Crusher" thread, I just have to ask this question: who is your least favorite character in all of Trek?
Please list a REASON for a character being your least favorite, OTHER than that they are "badly acted." I want reasons based on their character traits/personality rather than how well they are acted.

My least favorite is Janeway. Although I like the fact that Voyager has a female captain, personally I felt that being a woman was Janeway's only selling point because other than that, she had no unique personality traits... they kept trying to make her a female version of Kirk.

Geordi - Dude was a loser and a yes man. He got on my nerves from day one.

Barclay.

Think I've gotta go with Wesley. A precocious 15 year is okay by me...but the 'Wesley is the only person among 1000 on board that as a clue & saves the day' stuff was annoying.

My problem with Wesley was that I thought it was totally unrealistic for him to get a Starfleet commission at age 15 is totally unrealistic. How Picard snuck that one past Starfleet Command is beyond me.

Mmm... amongst all the regulars and semi-regulars, I guess it's be Quark's mother. Actually, I dislike this character mainly because almost all of the episodes she appeared in were the ones I considered the worst of DS9.

As for my least favourite regular character... I guess I deserve Trekkers' hell for this, but I think this would be Kirk :eek:. I never managed to find him likeable in any way, at least in the series (the movies are a different matter - maybe because he didn't get to seduce an alien chick every 50 mn :p).

THis is a tough question, cause there is so many to choose from.

From DS9, I would have to go with . . . Rom. OK, fine you're an idiot who can fix things. No need for you to act like a snivling idiot as well. And the new Grand Nagus. OMG. The end of The Ferengi Alliance as we know it folks. Look for the end of the use of money if he gets his way.

From TNG, this is a toughy. Even though I like the character. I would also go with Barkley. If you are that much of a whimp, lets face it he is, how did you make it through the acadamy. And then how did you even set foot in a starship? Stay planetside and get out of the way, we have Lightyears to cover, and you're making us go slow! (oh, and since I was a pre-teen when I started watching Star Trek (I picked it up on my own, back when it was on CBS in San Diego) I liked Wesley, even though I will agree he was a bit young for a commission, maybe make him enlisted would have been better.)

From TOS. Gotta go with Chekov. Sorry the Russian accent, and the wanta be british 60's pop just didn't cut it for me.

From VOY. Gotta go with Neelix as well, followed closely by Kim. And to think Kim was the first main Asian Character since Sulu, and he blows it! We need someone better if we see as ST: Titan. Maybe as the Security Officer or XO? ( you know what Asian main role I liked. The XO from B5:Excalibar. Or the original XO of B5 for that matter.)

Most of Voyager's characters irked me.

Janeway never interested me, and I never identified with her. Her characterization seemed inconsistent, and her voice grated on my ears. Since she got the most screen time of all the characters that annoyed me, she's first on my list.

Neelix came across as an idiot.

Paris could have been a cool hotshot pilot with a shady past, but he just turned into a wuss.

Tuvok should have taken humor lessons from Spock. Maybe then he wouldn't have seemed so arrogant and cold.

Uhh, that's the way a Vulcan should be played. Spock was half human, so humour could be intergrated into his character.

At least Tuvok was played 1000% better then the Vulcans in Ent.

Okay, here are my least favorites, in descending order:

-Neelix (actually, he and Weasley were tied for first place, but Neelix edges out front by just a bit)
-Wesley (PLEASE don't get me started)
-Janeway
-Troi
-LaForge (anybody who mouths off to the man who's forgotten more about engineering than he'll ever learn in a lifetime, well...:mad: )
-Barclay
-Seven (cleavage and a bad attitude do not a good character make)
-Rom
-Picard
-Data (Spiner's talented, but the role never expanded enough to show his range and he fell back on the same old routines)
-Christine Chapel

Geordi could sometimes be cool. Harry was a dud in every sense of the word.

Then again, even Harry would have stood out as a great character on Enterprise.

I have not really seen DS9, Voyager or Enterprise, so I will go with Q.. super human creatures without morals.. Heaven help us..

It's no longer important who it was. Since this weekend, a new character has leapt to the fore. The B-4, that is.

Just a bad idea. Should have been eliminated B-4 a single scene was filmed.

Phantom, IMO, Sarek was how a full-blooded Vulcan should be played. Sure, he came across as cold and arrogant at first glance, but he could lighten up when he wanted to. "Why did you marry her?" "At the time, it seemed the logical thing to do." :D

Whenever Tuvok tried to be funny, it came across as a condescending attempt to coddle the morale of the lesser beings he was forced to serve with.

Janeway, hands down.

Inconsistant, irresponsible... I expected to hear Chakotay say "Damn it, Kathrin, pick a personality and stick with it!"

Would there be something wrong with me if I said that my two favorite characters on Voyager and Enterprise aren't caste members, but are members of caste members? :D

A tie between Seven of Nine and the movie versions of Data. Wesley I didn't mind so much, having once been a 15-year-old who was a better problem-solver than most adults I knew.

Could I vote for the entire cast of Voyager?

Barring that, I would go for Neelix, although followed quickly by Barcaly/Broccoli. They were both annoying and altogether unecessary characters. Either would have been acceptable as a one-off. Neelix edges out Barcaly because he was around more often, but I saw no real point to either character. And Barcaly has the problem that he somehow graduated from Starfleet Academy AND was allowed on an exploration vessel.

One more point of brilliance for the writers of TNG...

Hmm...where to begin?

In order, from most disliked to less disliked...

1. Janeway: irresponsible and inconsistent. Should have been charged with murder over Tuvix's killing, and court-martialled for torturing a prisoner in the episode with the Equinox in it.

2. Neelix: should have just been disintegrated in the pilot. Annoying, patronising - as "morale officer", a public suicide would have been the best thing he could do! :)

3. Rom: idiot! Nobody that stupid and annoying could possibly be a terrific engineer.

4. Leta: (Rom's wife). If I had to hear that ridiculous "squeal" she'd do when Rom was in trouble one more time, I was going to throw a brick thru the screen.

5. Wesley: not only a smart-arse, but a saccharin-sweet one as well.

6. "Bones" McCoy: (Yes! I said it!) The series version, not the movie version. Irritating, bigoted, obnoxious and autocratic. Constantly telling off the captain on the bridge of the ship. Hmmm...actually, (and I'm sure Liz would agree), he's a pretty good rendition of most surgeons I've known! :)

I'm sure I could thank of some more, given time...:)

Give Rom a break! He only looks like an idiot, talks like an idiot, and does idiotic things. There is no evidence that he is an actual idiot :D

Seriously though, gotta love Rom, he's one of my favorite characters for some reason.

I really can't stand Neelix though. He looks like an idiot, talks like an idiot, does idiotic things, and I wish Rom would rig up a subspace super duper tronic ultra (50 more lines of technobabble) transporter that could have beamed onto Voyager when they met Neelix and he could have vaporized him and come back, leaving Voyager in the Delta quadrant to have it's adventures without having Neelix around.

Looks like you don't have to choose the one you dislike most to play this game ... nice ;).
I'd go with ...
- Janeway (for all the reasons given above)
- Tuvok (I really don't like him, but have no idea why ... perhaps because there is nothing likeable to his character? ;) )
- Kirk (well, yes, sorry for that one, but how could a starship captain be such a dork? No wonder McCoy is always telling him off! ;) )

Neelix, resident idiot, U.S.S Voyager

I'm afraid it has to be Acting Ensign WC every time.
To quote one of my crew "The rest of the Academy applicants all failed their psych evaluations-Wesley Crusher was still alive at the end of the exercise."

I can see why the syrupy feelgoodiness of a lot of Neelix (and other VOY character) scenes would annoy, but I just disengage my brain and go along with it. It's no worse than the forced hilarity at the end of almost every TOS episode.

Geordi came out with some wierd lines in the first series of TNG though-I think I recall hearing a "Zowie" one time? I keep expecting him to say sometihing like "Holy warp drives, Batman!"

ARCHER! I hate him! they should have gottena no name actor to play him. alos Janeway. One camera Angle would change and her hair would be different.

I agree with mr. Dizzy on the BarbieBorg thing. I'd rather have seen Kes age rapidly and deal with the ultra-short Ocampa lifespan than the whole exploring humanity thing AGAIN....

The Doctor. He got more characterization than most of the rest of the cast, and he a computer program.

He should have been on the first season while they concentrated on training a new medical staff, then turned off until an emergency.

It really didn't stretch Ricardo's acting either, basically the same character he played on China Beach as far as I can see.

It would have taken 7 years just to train someone in the basics of being a Medical Doctor. Remember Paris was only trained as a field medic/nurse (and I doubt he would have qualified for the RNs.) They had the Doctor and they used him, granted I often thought it was kind of lame killing off the whole med staff, surely one or two would have survived. But, what the hell right? Its B&Bs world after all...Lameness is the name of its Capitol.:(

Janeway, the psychotic, murdering (Tuvix), torturing (Equinox II), rule breaking (every fricking episode) Starfleet Admiral. What the frell are B+B on.

Chakotay was a better Starfleet officer, and he's a ex-terrorist.

Followed by the entire main cast of ENTERPRISE (except Porthos).

What I didn't like about Janeway was all the side trips, aren't they supposed to be getting home at top speed?

I can see stopping for wormholes and other possible ways home, but some of the stops had no good reason.

And she always let a hostile vessel fire several times before returning fire. Fire at the first sign of hostility and destroy the enemy.

Least favorite character/s:

It's either Fear from Voyager's "Cold Thaw" or the children of Star Trek's "Miri". Can't decide on which is most annaoying.

Janeway, hands down.

For all the reasons given above, though I want to expand on a couple things:

1) She constantly exposed her ship to danger through mismanagement of tactical situations. I don't care if you're a scientist or the captain of a garbage scow assigned to Ruh'ra Pente- you don't wait until your shields are mostly gone to start shooting back. If your enemy has already started hurling subatomic death at you, descression has ceased to be the better part of valor.

2) You don't beat up on your officers for making human mistakes, and then go and do the SAME FRELLING THING a week or two later without apologising to said crewmember, even if you are the captain. More-over she did this constantly throughout the series.

3) in such a situation as being trapped 75 years away from home, you don't go and lock yourself atop an ivory tower and do a vulcan imitation that would drive Tuvok into instant Pon Far. you be a leader by example, and SOCIALIZE WITH YOUR CREW!!!!!!!!! Alienating your crew leads to lower moral, and worse. encourage second guessing and (at its most extreme), mutany.

It's established canon (such as canon counts with Voyager) that Voyager was her first command, and after seeing what she did with that command, it's not surprising that they promoted her to admiral. What, you ask? Promote her? why in the frelling hell would you promote such a horrid officer, you ask?

Well, it's very simple, really: A) She technically came back a hero, and B) promoting her puts her behind a desk, instead of in the Big Chair of a Starship. Busting her back down would have put her in a position to command a starship again, which as we've seen is a colosal no-no. Promoting her really WAS the best thing to do, as strange as it sounds.

It's tough to think of a character that I didn't like at some point.

Neelix is largely annoying, but I enjoyed watching him be godfather to Naomi Wildman.

Rom was annoying at the start but he got a backbone (sort of) later on.

Geordi's kind of bland, but I didn't dislike him.

I really liked Wesley in 'The Game' and 'First Duty'.

Gotta go with Moogie. I dislike Ferengi episodes for the most part, and the ones with her in were the worst.
