This guy's work is impressive...make me wish he'd put a pricelist online...not that he'd sell them with Paramount around (:D) .
#1 - Marvel is much better than DC, there are alot less uberpowerful i will destroy the world characters in marvel, and not everyone in marvel is an alien, like in DC.
#2 - D20 is a pretty good system, it isnt the best, in my opinion for fantasy ICEs Rolemaster is the best, for Superhero "Champions" or "Hero System" is the best system.
#3 - What is wrong with "Enterprise" I think it is a real good show, and better than most of the others, i would rank the shows in my opinion in the following order...
#1 DS9
#2 Enterprise
#3 Voyager
#4 TNG
#5 Anything else for trek
#100000000000 Star Trek : TOS (totally horrible show, and the actors are a bunch of morons)
Although I too prefer later "generations" of Star Trek, it should be pointed out that TOS was quite popular in its day & even more popular after it went off the air. Also, if it wasn't for TOS, we would never have had TNG, DS9, VOY and ENT. So even if one doesn't consider TOS episodes to be the best, one has to acknowledge that they started it all which ultimately lead to a rather successful franchise.Quote:

i realize that, but the worst part is i dont know how people can like TOS as the actors all hate us, they are very arrogant and annoying and most have been quoted at times as saying that trekkies are annoying and geeks...
What does any of this have to do with minis?
Just curious.
1) And Marvel’s sooooo much better with it Earth’s populous consisting of 20% mutants (it’s true, Marvel came up with a stat that says that ‘Marvel Earth’s populous IS 1/5th Mutants…yeah, that reeeeal creative: “What his origin?” “He’s a mutant.” “And her” “Mutant.” “And…” “Mutant”).
And not only that, but that Earth consists of hypocrites; if you’re a mutant you’re hated, but how many people hate Spider Man??? He’s got power, and very well could have been a mutant (And their PTB just rub the wrong way…much like ‘Them’).
2) ‘Champions’ was a good system…until ‘New Millenium’, then it sucked (changing to 'Fusion' I akin to something like one saying “Hey kid, you want to play GURPS hmmm…you’re going to have to learn D20 rules for that…”). Now GURPS, they’ve got a good ‘tude: make the Rules fit the Genre, not the other way around. (Oh, for what it’s worth I’m preparing to run Tri-Stat SAS as my next ‘Supers’ game)
3) Ok, to turn things over; what’s good about Enterprise? Every time they open their mouths, they devalue something that was done before (Borg, Ferengi, Phase[r]-Weapons, PHOTONic Torpedoes…). And the characters stink to the point that ‘They’ had to add more characters…who don’t really integrate with the overall picture…but they again, neither does ‘Ain’t-a-prise’
(Sorry to the Mods and others about defending my views here, but if SOME people would use the boards properly:))
Huh? what's Marvel's Mutants got to do with Star Trek Miniatures?
But since Rancid insisted on attacking DC Comics solely on their alien quotient, I thought I'd just show how the grass isn't any greener on his side on the fence...
i wasnt attacking i was playfully poking at you thats all!
And I repeat what the others said here
WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH STAR TREK MINI'S?!?!?!?!?!?!
Nothing at all…but to make you all feel better, back to the subject:
Game Workshop just started doing Tau miniatures for BF…er, Battlefleet Gothic (the initials tend to sum up most gamers’ opinion of the game:)). Check this out:

Now, doesn’t that just scream ‘KLINGON’!!!…oops, should use my indoor voice:).
So (and changing gears slightly) Doug/Jesse, what is the deal with miniatures; are they being looked for next year maybe? Or is the game really that far behind now. (You know I’d say “Shades of LUG”…but they at least got a miniatures set out:D...hey, I kid...sorta':))
'The Miniature Page' seem to be 'bass ackwards' with set-up, go here, then scroll down to a ship called 'TAU DEFENDER':

hey guys ya it be nice to get some freekin miniatures but first me thinks they need to get a stable company to get their books goin
Oh yeahhhh ...another thing no matter how much sunshine they blow up my butt........ Enterprise is not STARRRRRRRRRRR TREKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!
OH Hey Modem ** Wave**
Interesting... a thread gone completely off topic without the slightest mention of SMITEs.... :D
First, don't pick fights you can't win; Next, don't pick fights at all _here._ Your post, as well as the sig to which you responded, are obvious flame-war bait. That said:Quote:

Let me guess: You're under the age of 25, can't remember a time period when CDs, cell phones, and home computers didn't exist, and therefore can't understand the original series in context as a direct commentary on the social and political fabric of the turbulent 1960s.
Modern incarnations of Star Trek rarely venture into social or political commentary while TOS did it regularly and did it well. The original Star Trek had the guts to speak its mind in a time when network censors were cancelling controversial shows like "The Smothers Brothers" solely on the basis of its social or political content. "Daring" or "courageous" can hardly be applied to modern incarnations of Trek.
OK, its looking like time to either moderate or move this thread.
Ezri, that was an uneccesary hostile post to an off-topic slant, please either cease this direction and get back onto miatures (as several posters have asked), or take this discussion over to the General char=t area if you want to criticise the content of someone signature?
Thanks.

In my opinion, I think the original sig in question as well as Rancid's response to it are equally hostile, equally unnecessary, and are specifically designed to provoke a hostile reaction. Therefore, it is my opinion that if blame and corrections are to be assigned, then it should also be done equally.Quote:

In any case, I've said all I needed to say, so you'll hear no more from me on this topic.

As this thread stopped being about miniatures a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. And the only posts after the admin warning were arguing the toss or continuing the personal sig hits...
I have carried out the threat of moving this thread.
Apologies for anyone that actually wanted to talk about miniatures, but it appears that Ezri, Styro and Liz would rather keep this matter off topic.
This is getting ridiculous now. Is this a forum where topics go "off topic" 3 or 4 posts in???

Easy, Tiger. Them's fighting words.
I grew up with TOS and it sure beats TNG and all it's offspring, in my opinion. Yet, I don't call TNG horrible or the actors morons.
You weren't "there," so you have no idea what Star Trek meant to people in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.
Perhaps in 20 years time, when Star Trek: The NEXT Next Generation (TNNG) comes out and kids say TNG was crap compared to TNNG, you'll see what I mean.
It's always the johnny-come-latelys who denigrate things that have gone on before them.
actually i was there in the 70's and still think the same way. I dont know how trek fans can like the actors when multiples of them have been quoted as putting down ST fans. And i dont hate all the actors just mostly, shatner, nimoy and defforest-kelly (who is dead and that didnt hurt my feelings at all)
I understand the importance of the first show, just the attitudes of these 3 actors ruins it for me.
Y'know, I'm now 33 and I've been an ST fan since I was 14. In that time, I must have seen and read numerous interviews and read all the behind-the-scenes books and articles. With the exception of Shatner's "Get A Life" SNL sketch, and a few Shatner anecdotes from acquaintances, I've never seen nor read any statement nor seen nor heard account of any behavior from any TOS actor that put down Star Trek fans.Quote:

Nimoy was always a bit aloof and more interested in more 'serious' art (whatever that is.) Now that he's semi-retired and the Spock character is 100% behind him, he's more interested in his photography
DeForest Kelley was an old-school Southern Gentleman and would never have been so rude as to put down anyone regardless of what his opinion was.
The one original series actor that loves the fans to pieces is George Takei; He loves attending conventions, talking with fans, and appreciates the acting opportunities his Star Trek celebrity has brought him. He genuinely likes the fans. In fact, Mr. Takei once wrote a personal 'Thank You' letter to one of my friends just because my friend retrieved a fresh newspaper for him at a convention.
The accounts of friction between the actors during the production of the original series are now well-known. (And, really, who gets along with ALL of one's co-workers ?) But, I've not seen anything against the fans from any of the original series actors (with the exception of Shatner.)
Now, if you want to talk anti-fannishness, take Jeri Ryan and some of her snide post-Voyager interviews. . . .
