And I just noticed that the Federation side is getting the Ahn-woon and the Ushan-tor blades for melee.
And it looks like that the Cryptic crew are going to try to add the Kzinti
Star Trek Online will be going F2P by the end of the year. Two categories silver/gold membership.
what will be the difference between those?
From what I have been told it looks like Silver grants almost all in game content. There will be limits though such as fewer character slots, ships and probably a limit on emails and use of things like the Foundry, ingame market etc. Gold has access to everything.
Differences for Silver members according to Cryptic's FAQ page:
--Fleet creation will be limited (no specifics)
--One fewer character slot per account
--All additional bridge officer slots must be purchased (no rank-related freebies)
--Individual and bank inventories both cap at 48
--Captain Retrains must be purchased (no rank-related freebies)
--No Veteran Rewards
--No priority logins
--Limited access to in-game chat, in-game mail, forums, and customer service
--In-game voice chat is ad-supported (no ads for Gold members)
--No monthly stipend
So STO is going FTP beginning 17JAN.
What can be expected with this change?
What of new people coming into the game? What of existing paying players?
Gold players ie. Those who paid a subscription will have extra slots for ships and characters, they will have full access to all of the missions and monthlys. Silver will have limited character and ship space ie only two slots for each but the option to buy more, I think they get fewer duty officers, the mission arcs such the Deferi, Reman story arcs will be purchasable for silver, similar to what they have done for Champions Online. The new model sees income from the C Store and mission arc purchases. Lifetime subs get access to everything plus a few perks although they may change from the current ones.
