I used a simple 2D CAD package called EasyCAD to do the basic drawing, then exported it as a .DXF. I imported the .DXF into Paint Shop Pro to colour and label it, and exported the finished product as a .GIF. I have AutoCAD and CorelDraw!, but I've never found the time to get past their steep learning curves. When I do find the time, it'll mean a quantum leap in the quality of my deck plans.
I tend to re-think the aesthetics of my plans every couple of years. When I did the original version of the Maggie's bridge, I was into a white-line blueprint phase. Now I'm more into a black-line grey and turquoise on blue background motif.

What symbols would you guys like to see?
Here's the list I have thus far:
Bridge Chair
Command Chair
Small Door
Large Door
4 Large LCARS terminals
4 LCARS 'bookend' Terminals
3 Small LCARS terminals
Nav terminal
Arched terminal
Freestanding arched Conn terminal
Jeffries Tube
Jeffries Tube Junction
Turbolift
Warp Core
Short Railing
Long Railing
Sickbay bed
Sickbay bed with 'Chest Monitor'
Medical crash-cart
Desktop computer
Conference Table (for 10 places)
Short Window (interior)
Large Window (interior)
Short Window (exterior)
Octagonal Holosuite
Whereas these aren't entirely canon (I created them for my MUX, naturally, which has its own production design), they are 'Trek-like' and usable in any late-era map.
Many of these have control points, too.
Anything not in that list that you guys would like to see?

Oh, yeah. I released the .FCW files on my web site. Hit it and click on 'Downloads' to download the raw map, which is usable with ProFantasy's CC2 free viewer software.
Owen: Posted the new pic. Thanks again.

Hmmm. I just skimmed over your list, Anomaly, so forgive me if I mention something already on there.
Warp Core (you had one listed, but a couple of different designs to choose from would be great)
Plasma Transfer Conduit
EPS conduit
Master engineering monitor ("the table" in Engineering on the Galaxy class)
Corridor (various sections)
Tables and chairs (for a Ten Forward-like lounge)
Torpedo
That should do it for now. http://www.trekrpg.net/Board/ubb/smile.gif (I'm assuming you only want interior symbol suggestions at present.)
Thanx!

I put up my rendering of the bridge module for the USS Aegis, Akira Class. As nice as Owen's was, I couldn't help but create my own in CC2. The raw map isn't available for download yet, though.
It's under the Visual Data section.

Hi Anomaly,
Looks real nice. Are the symbol catalogs available for download yet? I couldn't seem to find them.
-
Not yet, Dan. Though most of the pieces are available by downloading the maps for Ops and the Mall and saving the drawings as a CC2 Catalog. I made some mistakes while creating them in terms of layers that needs to be corrected. I'm still adding to them as well.

Any News??
Anomaly,
Any word from Profantasy? :)
Would love to be able to start doing some real 'Trek' style plans and such myself. :)

I've always been intrigued by Campaign Cartographer, especially now that the price has dropped $40. But, until there's a port to Macintosh, its not of much use to me.
But, there's little CC2 can do that I can't do in Freehand, so its not imperative that I have CC2. (With a few add-ons, Freehand is used by pro cartographers for real-world maps.)
However, I would love to make use of the symbols everyone's talking about. Does CC2 export to a vector-format usable by Freehand and other illustration programs ?
-
CC2 does indeed rock. So does Fractal Terrains.

No news yet, but you guys will be the first to know when I'm able to release the goodies.
