As one of the players in this fantastic game, I can absolutely recommend this. It's a great read!
It's on Decipher's new boards right here:
Or arrogant Numenorean warlords?
Yes I think it can be done as well, the Coda system might need a few tweaks to keep it as Tolkienesque as...
Yes, I think that is a major reason. Besides the fact that the current Coda system is not very wel suited to very high level characters, no matter what Sauron's stats are it will never be good enough...
Or let them make regular TN 30 Willpower test versus that undying desire to cross the sea to the West. Of course failure results in a -12 to all actions. :-)
I was wondering... now that the first adventures have been 'published' online in their original form, whould it be possible for the playtesters or Jeff to publish their comments and improvements for...
Hehe, you really work hard to make this though-looking, proud, noble , Boromir-like warrior, only to have him utterly fail his first weariness test when crossing the Misty Mountains and a Hobbit(!)...
The problem with such a rule is that you 'punish' the characters with a lower stamina twice as hard. They have a lower chance of succeeding, and they have to roll more often.
Isn't an "Enterprise" really something from an industrialized, and thus evil world?
For it to be really in keeping with a Tolkienesque atmosphere it would be something like "Craftsman" :-)
Isn't that the 'infamous' book where they had the 'magical' nuclear bomb?
I think that was the list included in MERP.
Apysaic was spoken in Greater Harad, south of Far Harad, Labba is spoken by the Lossoth, Logathig is an Easterling language, Nahaiduk and Atliduk were...
Interesting 4th age adventure hook: "If it was known that Hobbits had hides like this, all the hunters in the world would come to hunt them."
The characters have to help the Hobbits to...
I thought he took that route because:
1. The Northwest road hadn't been built yet. (not sure about this one)
2. He had not enough horses to ride, so they had to walk.
3. As mentioned above he...
I'll double-post this with Decipher's board:
I've got a question for the Tolkien scholars out there.
What is Arnor's heraldic sign?
I've found the following in the Encyclopedia of Arda: ...
I seem to remember some remarks about other contingents which Dúnedain explorers found early in the Third Age, as they were searching for the Undying Lands.
Also the Venturers of Numenor explored a...
One thing I would like to try (it is based on an inexperienced group of Breemen/Hobbits/ Craftsmen who don't have much combat experience) is the following:
The first time my PC's encounter an enemy...
I can tell you as the player who plays Finbor, that is was even more fun to play it, and the posts couldn't have been long enough! :)
Great! December would be fine for me as well ;)
Like crossing High Pass in full armour for example? :D
This is a very interesting system! I must admit I have no experience in actually narrating a Lotr game (I did put a lot energie in inventing chronicles) but I have experience as a player.
I have a...
It sounded Arabic enough for me to be convinving Haradic?/Haradaic?/whatever...
In my chronicle the characters will go to Tharbad as well. I like the way MERP portayed in Thieves of Tharbad (with the canals and such) so I adapted Tharbad to be more like Venice (with all the...
About the blade-naming ability, an other possibility ( I don't know if it has been mentioned before) is to award reknown points to weapons as well, if the character acts really heroic with it.
(just...
I like this solution, I think there should be some general abilities which can replace some of the more powerful edges.
For example, an edge like Bold gives +5 per courage point spend on physical...
Ofcourse, just the sight of the Witch-king with an intrument of torture in his hands might be enough for a Fear test ;)
But King of Rohan, euhm ben hur, is right.
Just use the same Fear table,...
I'll be waiting for all three extended versions for an eleven (??!!) hour session :D
I haven't read the complete version yet, but I liked the first one a lot. I'll give a full opinion when I've read it.
